The driest horse pasture in the world :frown:

We havent had rain in a few weeks; so I'm suprised we found as many mushrooms as we did.  Although the mushrooms we found were in well watered areas.

The 4th photo is probably Conocybe lactea, which is a very common lawn mushroom here.

The 5th one looks like Phaeolus schweinitzii.

The 6th and 7th photos are Coprinus comatus, also called Shaggy Manes. They are choice edibles. You need to eat them before the gills start to change color from white to black.

So, what part of the state? It hasn't rained here in weeks, as you say.

Happy mushrooming!

We're right across the Dam road from you. I live just outside the boundires for Greenwood Village. I've seen the shaggy manes quite often this fall. Are the mushrooms better raw or cooked. Also, do shaggy manes decompose rather quickly? After a few days the mushrooms in the 6th and 7th decompose and turn into black goo.

Have you been finding any mushrooms lately?

Shaggy manes turn into black soup if they are sporulating. Like you said. Most species in Coprinus will do this. I've heard that they are excellent in omelets.
