invitro with grain

afoaf wants to know if its is possible to use hippies invitro tek with grains (namely popcorn and birdseed). He knows its best to case but he is just wondering if it could be done at all.

it works better with seed over popcorn, as the large popcorn kernals break off the cake when you finally remove the fruit. my fish found this out by accident when he wasnt paying attention and cased three quarts of popcorn in too thin a container and pinning/fruiting occured in the middle of casing. so when the casing was removed (now essentially a very large double end cake) to remove the fruit on the side, lots of popcorn came off with the fruits.

Yes, its possible. However, you should think about adding some vermeculite into your seed mix to add more water content for the fruiting. Seed on its own is usually on the dry side.
