growing kit
    #1989785 - 10/08/03 01:01 PM (13 years, 7 months ago)

i have recently bought a growing kit to try to ease myself slowly into growing. Ive had it 2 days now and there seems to be a certain amount of white fluff growing on top in very small patches, i know this is normal but it seems to be going very slowly despite the packaging promising shrooms in 3-4 days, im going into day 3 now with not much to show. Any feedback on whether it looks normal or not will be appreciated.

If you get shrooms in 3-4 days they're not the mushrooms you want.  More like 1-2 months

The white fluff is good -- if it's in a bag mix it all up (without breaking the bag or opening it, of course) and it should go a lot faster.

I dont know about growing kits, but no worries. 3 days and white stuff on the top is normal. Normally you should cover these white fluffy spots (mycelium) up with a casing medium. But as you surely dont have any delivered with the kit just try and keep the humidity up and the air fresh. (meaning a good fanning 2-3 times a day) That way you should get pins and then fruits in two to three weeks.

(@micro: I think he's got one of those ready cased grow kits you can get in england and the netherlands. Or do you have a pre-innoculated spwan-bag??)

Is it a really strandy growth that comes high off the casing? "doubled in the last 5-6 hours" kind of worries me.

no its just like a fine white fluff growing all over the top of the substrate soil mixture thing, apparently its the thing that the mushrooms grow out of, there was a reasonable amoutn to star twith say 1/8th of surface was covered now its rouglhy a patchy 1/4
