shrooms need light to pin.....if you want the shrooms to pin in the jars (many using the pf tek want that) you should let indirict light touch the jars close before it is 100% colonized, if you want to case you shouldn't let the jars have contact to light......

they need some light in the fruiting chamber...

you should read the thread called: "best cake ever or so"

I have never grown with cakes, but I thin you can't go wrong with that
B.T.W many strains don't pin inside the jar..

BTW most strains other than the PF original won't pin invitro, so it doesn't really matter. Although some think that the other strains will pin sooner if given light at about 3/4 colonization. Personally, I don't grow PF, and I don't really worry about light before birth if I happen to be growing cakes of other strains.

PM me with any cultivation questions.

I just looked at my profile and realized I had a website at one point in time on geocities, it's not there anymore and I have no idea what I had on it. Anybody remember my website from several years aga? PM if so please.

Thanks for the overwhelming response to my question. I guess it really was a stupid question or perhaps no one out there is smart enough to answer it other than the two good humans that did respond.

Cubes only need to be in light for one milisecond to start pinning. So all that dicking around you do with your cakes everyday will make them pin. Keep your jars in the dark. I have seen shrooms grown in a closet with no light on with just the closet door cracked 1 inch, they grew great. Light isnt that big of an issue, thre not plants.
