Man Miles Davis is the most chilled out sounding musician. Is anyone familiar with "kind of blue", or anything? it's an amazing album. It's like when jazz musians switched from weed to acid or something. You can really hear that drug influence.

You wanna hear drug-influenced, Bitches Brew is what you want.
Big Fun, Filles de Killamanjaro, Sketches of Spain, Kind of Blue are all CLASSIC Miles albums, oh Birth of the Cool is great too.

You're basing that on one album. Pretty much all of his albums sound radically different from one another. That's what's so cool about him. He never did the same thing twice. Some of his other material is rather hectic-sounding.

Indeed. If you wanna hear another awesome Miles album that's completely different, check out "Bitch's Brew." It's the beginning of Jazz-Fusion(Jazz with a Rock element to it).

I'm not aware that Miles Davis ever did any psychedelics, but he was once a heroin addict(as were many jazz musicians in the 1950's and 60's), but quit cold-turkey(imagine how tough that must've been!).

Oh yeah, I'm familiar with his other stuff. I'm just saying Kind of Blue is also a really trippy album.

i read miles' biography through interviews. he was invited to the white house once and this lady looked down her nose at him because he was black and said, "What did YOU do?". he replied, " i canged the face of music 5 or 6 times. what did YOU do?". i thought that was a great answer.
by the way, has anyone heard his album, "I REMEMBER JACK JOHNSON"? it has john mclaughlin (sp?) from the mahivishnu orchestra on it.

I think i've read that after M. Davis was clean , He and Charles Mingus among others artists, attended to some experiments with Tim Leary at Millsbrook (sp?).
