I use PGP 8.0,
its good for encryption and permanent deletion.

I believe what it does is either erase over the same spot multiple times, OR it writes over the spot and erases it again and again.

According to the PGP software,

"PGP Wipe exceeds the media sanitization requirements of DoD 5220.22-M at 3 passes.  Security continues to increase up to approximately 28 passes."

Its default setting is to 3 passes, and you can change this setting to however many passes you desire .

I use Webroot's Window Washer 4.8 and I am pleased with the results. Download the trial and then crack it.

Try BCWipe. I've used it for years and it's a great little proggie and meets US Department of Defence standards. Basically, what it does is overwrite the deleted file with random ones and zeroes seven times. You have to be careful though because once you delete something using it, it is truely deleted! You can get it here.

use evidence eliminator. you can set it to wipe with zeroes, ones, and random up to 9 times.. it wipes out the name of the file, the file size, and scrambles the date.
