small sclerotia jars

i made a bunch of very small jars with rye and galindoi, thinking that way i would always be able to eat fresh stones without having to harvest a whole bag or big jar. but the amount of sclerotia i harvested was higher than i expected, i think because a little jar dries out faster, thus the myc invests faster in the sclerotia. this jar was (i think) about 4 months old.

cool idea! i use tall 1/2 pints for g2g (easier in small SAB) and they do dry out faster with grains. I'm actually surprised urs lasted 4 months. what ur lid set up like? how many average doses/yield do u feel might b average for the 1/2 pint?

thanks, these were pretty dry and shrunk back from the glass after the four months though.
sorry, i'ts only the first i harvested so can't really give estimates on yields from half pints.
i just use polyfill as a filter

How many quart jars can you inoculate with a half pint while still getting fast colonization times?

Geez. That would be very fast harvest times IMO!
Getting those 6 week harvests like RR talks about

Nice man! What kind of ISO tek you using?
Cause I generally just do a G2G with the best and fastest colonizing jars and that's as far as any isolation goes for me haha.

of the fastest jar i took the biggest stones, cut them in half and put them on a petridish. Now i'm testing those cultures in new grainjars to see which one is fastest and produces the biggest stones, and i'll then only keep that culture.

your welcome ^_^
i don't like the taste, so now i'm just making tea from them and freeze it as ice cubes (make sure you label them so your girlfriend doesn't trip by accident). i don't really weigh my dosis so i don't know, but in the smartshops here in holland the standard dosis for stones is 15 grams.
i've been microdosing a lot latey on those ice cubes and it feels very therapeutic! the harvest in my first post made into tea and poured into about 20-30 ice cubes, one ice cube as a dosis.

i just harvested a jar from a galindoi isolate i was testing, i got 34 grams of truffles from it and 81 grams colonised rye. i had them in the fridge before this pic so the bag is a bit wet.

thanks ya'll! i weighed it because i was curious how much of the grain mass had converted to sclerotia, it was 30% ^_^
@ popcorn do you mean you have lc or water with spores? i'd make a bunch of jars with it, so you can always decide later to G2G some of them to expand more.
