Sharks are f*ckin cool
    #1982755 - 10/05/03 11:24 PM (20 years, 6 months ago)

did you know sharks can sense up to a billionth of a volt? basically like sensing a flashlight turn on a mile away. they use this sense to track prey movement.. but what im wondering is if they can sense muscle impulses then could they also sense brain impulses, if they are close enough to something? seems logical. if they sense too much brain activity in a fish maybe that means the fish is confused about what to do and makes it easier for the shark to pick out the easiestly captured fish..makes sense to me, what do you think?

this is also one more piece of evidence that proves it is very possible for creatures to sense things unseen to the eye. now saying humans can do it is a different issue.. but im just making sure all you skepties realize anything is possible in evolution

that sounds logical

are you saying then if you got close enough to a shark it could sence your brain activity?

Sharks are cool for sure.
But dolphins are cooler
If sharks are messin' around..they can kick shark's asses..by sending high-frequency vibrations into the shark.. thus rupturing internal organs.

Is that all sharks, or just the hammerhead? I know the hammerhead can detect the electrical charges created by a beating heart, but I wasn't aware this was the case with all sharks. The sensory organs on the hammerhead are on the sides of its head, which act kind of like a directional antenna allowing it to zero in on the electrical impulses.

If anybody is interested in marine biology, the UVI has a very cool marine biology department.

Yes, all sharks can sense electrical fields, but some are better at it than others. Hammerheads love to prey on stingrays (which hide unde the sand), so they have a bit more advanced sensory system than other species of shark.
I LOVE sharks!

i heard they ram sharks with their snouts...and thereby rupture internal organs.

a bunch of friends were swimming with dolphins off the coast of w.aus. most got back in the boat except one guy. a big tiger shark came along and all the dolphins scattered, never to be seen again. leaving my mate alone in the water with mr sharky. maybe their batteries were flat?

Shroomism, didn't you say that dolphins and whales were already '4th density'? What does this imply, exactly?

And hell yes sharks rule! I've watched Shark Week every year since I was a little kid.
