heat issue
    #1984441 - 10/06/03 04:55 PM (21 years, 13 days ago)

Someone has a chamber in a dungeon. Made from thick housewrap plastic, it resembles a rectangular bubble 3 feet off the ground to the ceiling. Prolly 70 cubic feet total.(kinda fat) Ambient temps in the dungeon are around 60F. Temps in the chamber are around 65-69F depending, and fluctuating. It is pretty air tight, except for 2 small fiberfill stuffed exhaust holes and the fan on the opposite side.. Theres some shelves in there right now, and a temp/rh unit.

Fluctuation of temp occurs when the circulation fan and ultrasonic come on, which push some of the space heater warmed area air into the chamber. Shortly, and constantly after, temps drop again untill the next cycle.

Concerned the temps are way to low to fruit with. Any suggestions on how to raise this temp without heating the entire dungeon?

The chamber is quite thin, as far as being able to hold heat properly, so ... ?

from what ive read - high 60's to low low 70's may be tolerable... but sure doesn't do anything for fruiting speeds?

looking for a more desireable fruiting temp.
any other ways to reise temp in a larger area as described?

you project is going to take a long ass time at them temps. also if temp gets real low your project will become dormant.

The extra time is not an issue really, and its actually not toooo bad as far as the colonization is going - comparing to what someone has read.

Someone is semi concerned about dormancy though. As days grow colder, so will the chamber. Whats would be the lowest someone would want to allow temperature to reach, and still see slowed growth - not bare bones -- but bare bones deluxe edition or something.

just use an aquarium heater in a bottle of water...seal it in there with silicone and it wont evaporate....or...build a magash style incubator and use it for fruiting aswell.
