You can plant a cake in peat moss or manure- at least it should work.It would take ages before you see shrooms. Better case it indoors. But take look at the FAQ first. Outside growing usually implies bulk masses of substrate. Look up "casings" in the faq to find what you want to do.

I have tried that will my last few grain casings, no luck yet, but the garden mice will never be the same again.

its funny you should say that cuz this dude saw a huautla from his outdoor patch(which by the way is a casing that got ants and he dumped it outside under a tree)that had teeth marks of what was definitely a rodent...lucky lil bastard
