Hi...I posted this in the other drug forum but didnt get any response so I thought Id give it a shot here. I was wondering if anybody knew the shelf like of prescription drugs like the ones listed above. xanax etc.... As long as moisture doesnt get to them Id think they would be able to last for years but then again why is there a expiration date on the ones you get from the doc? Can anyone help?? thanks...Orizon
Yea..I couldnt fine anything on the net about shelf life of prescriptions but I had a quick little thought of why the pharmacy puts an expiration date on the bottle. If your prescibed xanax or vicodin or something like that, the doc always says your not supposed to take benzos or strong pain killers for over 4 months cause you can become addicted. Do you guys think this holds any ground?
No the experation date is usually a few years form the date you get the pills. They do it for liabilty like dibbles said. I found some vic 7.5's that were like 2 years past the experation date and gave them to a friend and he said he got sick off them. I have never taken pills that old myself so I can't say from experience.
