Anyone on here had luck in the west coast region ever.. Not asking for places or anything just whether or not anyone has found any actives to see if it's worth spending too much time looking, I'm down here all week

I'm not asking about current finds and have no intention to ask for locations just a simple yes or no.

So subs are the most abundant and appear the easiest to find - any recommendations on other active species that I can focus on (not sure about the dung lovers - meaning I don't want some farmer chasing me off his land LOL)
cheers

Still having 0 luck after some good dumps and freezing temps, i guess its still early days in my hood. There is inactives in the thousands where im walking though, also hundreds of Amanitas... ive never considered them to be something i would be interested in, but i guess im becoming a more curious in them now its looking like my chances are going to be slim for subs in my region, do you guys rate them as something worth exploring? or not really bother..all ive had are mixed patchy reports at best.. sorry if this is something that shouldn't be discussed here, still a noob.

Stick with subs in my opinion.
Give it a few more weeks and things will be in full swing. Tis early days yet.
And, nice finds tassiedevil!
North or South? Bush or urban?

hey mushroom_spider
My finds were in the south in a wet sclerophyll forest - there were quite a few about, left heaps there
I stepped off the track, looked behind a fern (an area I found a few a week ago) and I just smiled. Lots of beautiful specimens. Wish I had a good camera to take photo's before cutting them
cheers

Yeah I was thinking the same, was hoping someone had a confirmed find, nothing logged on the fungi map site which had me wondering..
Well I searched a good hour or two for the past 3 days and haven't come up with any actives, either too early where I did find the right conditions or they're just not there. Had a good chance to look at a lot of different spots, pine, eucalypt, world heritage and old growth areas where I didn't expect to find subs, just other beautiful fungi. Some really good areas which I thought would be a goer. I think I'll plan another trip down in a few weeks time.
Here's a pic of some orange clavaria miniata coral fungi.

I got this pic of mycena interrupta but I was shattered to find I didn't get a very good pic.

A successful hunt down south today. Consistently larger than most I saw last season and so early in the year. Thanks to everyone on shroomery that helped me with IDs in 2013.

Hi free radical the amanitas are worth trying. i tried about 4 times in the last month. the preparation is important but my opinion is, maybe the ones in tassie are not as potent as the european ones. but overall they are pretty interesting. but i don think its worth trying the ones found here.

Cool mushroom. It's not blue staining but rather a blue mushroom. It appears to be an Entoloma species.

Went for a romp the other day, had a little bit of luck, not a lot. Decided to post a few pics.
1) This deceptive fungi:

2)
3) Posted this one because it always tricks me, a close lookalike but not what I know as a 'Death Cap'

4) And that feeling when you see them

5) Happy hunting!

Hello, hello.
I'm totally new to this mushroom thing, but getting very keen.
I'd love to find some Lions Mane which I've heard grows in Tassie. I'm in the South - does anyone know where I might start hunting for them?
Cheers

If you're keen learn to read the rules first - one of the rule is asking for location is a no no. Then learn to play around with the search function.
There should be heaps of p. subaeruginosa in Tasmania.
