look like Marasmius oreades. Definitely not active.
The fact you were out in a cow paddock make me wonder if you have done sufficient research.
If you are after Psilocybe subaeruginosa you need to be looking amongst wood debre, around Eucalyptus spp. or Pinus spp., or in suburban garden beds mulched with wood chips.
Psilocybe semilanceata are found amongst grass, but look nothing like that.
Before looking again read about about how to identify both species and their relative habitats. this site is an amazing resource so make sure you make the most of it and dont make blind stabs in the dark hoping you scored.

I was in Flinders Island for work and came across some interesting fungi: Ergot (Claviceps purpurea) on cocksfoot grass (Dactylis glomerata). Seems like a good chance to start off the 2014 season, or am I stretching it too far?
Enjoy!

I'm from Deep South Victoria and I fucking love the Tassie thread. It looks more like where I live than the Victorian photos. Good work starting it and good luck! Find some subs!

Nice one Tas75, you said youd beat me too it.
I had a nice hike planned to my regular liberty cap spot on saturday, as its definitely cooled down enough for them to fruit for the season i reckon.
Not sure about the subs though, i wonder if its still too dry in my part of the world, esp given the rain they keep forcasting hasnt happened.
Anyway, awesome pics, and i reckon they count.
cheers, must be time to catch up for coffee again.

Hi Obtuse, no I haven't seen a sub yet.
I looked out for them in Flinders Is., where it had rained plenty, but not cool wnough yet. I'm off to Blue Tier next week and the forecast rain over the weekend might bring them out.

Hello All
It was good to see that this thread has been started. Hello Obtuse and Tas75 I've had a look, but as yet no subs, but I did find some mushrooms worth taking photo's of.
I hope no one minds me sharing them in this thread.

You're doing better than me... I haven't even found any inactives in my usual spots... Still very dry around here, but the last two nights have been an improvement. Hopefully next week I can at least find some inactives growing.

Amanita muscaria and Suillus species are popping up already. I got a few Suillus to put in the gravy last night. Yummy.
And yep, same ergot. It's not uncommon, I keep seeing them around, mostly on ryegrass (Lolium)
