Nice one Tas75, you said youd beat me too it.

I had a nice hike planned to my regular liberty cap spot on saturday, as its definitely cooled down enough for them to fruit for the season i reckon.

Not sure about the subs though, i wonder if its still too dry in my part of the world, esp given the rain they keep forcasting hasnt happened.

Anyway, awesome pics, and i reckon they count.

cheers, must be time to catch up for coffee again.

Excellent pics Blessed.

im very impressed.

A bit of a wierd year for me so far and i may not be contributing many pics this year (as was the case last year) due to stuff happening in my life.

still around to do plenty of ID's but.

I guess as they say, shit happens.  so make sure you get lots of pics to make up for my loss.

Has anyone got the new Tasmanian field guide which has come out quite recently?
Is it good? Is it pretty? Layout pleasing? I must know, because field guides are as satisfying to me as awesome finds, and I must catch them all.

Dont look like leratiomyces ceres to me.

post more pics with better lighting photos, maybe with samples laid out rather than heaped.  need to be able to see them clearly to be able to id.

also good shots of caps, stems and gills.  have any habitat shots?

Hypholoma fasciculare var. fasciculare

your looking in the right area.  i have found these within metres, and in one spot less than a metre, of subs, so be really careful and vigilant.

the photos are not great and i would have appreciated a photo of gills.

Beautiful habitat!

The thin stemmed mushrooms are pretty gorgeous in pics 1, 3 and 4 too. What are they?

Look to me like Mycena cystidiosa, with plenty of pseudostipes, the white threads in the litter.

Nice examples, and well spotted ent.  nice one.

Yes Psilocybe subaeruginosa.  Pic 3. that middle one - make sure it stains blue, and has black/purple print.  it looks fine but just to be sure, double check it.

now, you others look a lot like Psilocybe semilanceata, but there are a few features that look wrong.  the way the cap seems to turn out at the bottom, the lack of sheen (do they have a gelatinous covering of the cap that can be peeled off?), and the colour.  the colour of the gills doesnt look quite right either.  what colour is the spore print?

The stems look fine to me, but i want to see a photo of the base.  for id purposes it helps to get the whole mushroom including the base and some mycelium if possible.  what was the habitat, and what were they growing in.

can you post with better lighting.

Yes Psilocybe subaeruginosa all round.  nice.

They are not Psilocybe semilanceata.  I think its a Panaeolus sp.

Not the place to ask about dosage IMO.  this thread is just to show off finds  and for assistance where needed.

its really a personal thing as peoples neuro chemistries can vary a lot.  theoretically a small dose could be used as a baseline and then be increased till a sweet spot is hit.

Be sure to double check that assignment that it makes sense tomorrow

look like Marasmius oreades. Definitely not active.

The fact you were out in a cow paddock make me wonder if you have done sufficient research.

If you are after Psilocybe subaeruginosa you need to be looking amongst wood debre, around Eucalyptus spp. or Pinus spp., or in suburban garden beds mulched with wood chips.

Psilocybe semilanceata are found amongst grass, but look nothing like that.

Before looking again read about about how to identify both species and their relative habitats.  this site is an amazing resource so make sure you make the most of it and dont make blind stabs in the dark hoping you scored.

None of those are active.

Those first two pics are of a Galerina spp.  probably Galerina patagonica

last pic:

1.  Galerina patagonica
4.  Panaeolus spp.
7.  Cortinarius spp.
8.  Galerina spp.  - a bit dried out.

when taking pics to id, good to have pics of both caps, stems and gills.  but none of those are actives.

Yeah i love it when i find them growing of bracken stems.

something to do with all the nitrogen i think they accumulate, and then release into the soil.  maybe im making it up tho!

Found in woodchip mulch.  Amazing how subs can differ so much in shape and size.  Very close by were some smaller subs that were like upside-down dinner plates, very flat, like flying saucers.

Yeah they almost look like Psilocybe azurescens.  I am not saying in anyway that they might be, lol, just that they resemble them.

There are a lot of shared phenotypes within that group, i.e the confusion between subs and P. cyanescens.
