filter patch bags under pressure

i was wondering if when filter patch bags are sterilized in a pressure cooker, if water vapors pass through the filter patch. so water from the pressure cooker would be entering the bag through the filter patch and vice versa.

Some small amounts may enter/escape ,nothing to worry about. But I've never messed with bags before. I would imagine the same principle applies to jars with filters as well.

Although the filters on our bags will allow some vapor to pass this will not be noticeable during the autoclaving cycle. I would say no vapor will enter the bag during this time and very little if any will exit. Prepare your substrate with the proper water content and autoclave. When finished it will still have the correct moisture.

Can you seal the bags before autoclaving?

He/she said nothing about autoclaving. Im pretty sure autoclaving & PC'n are 2 different things
What would happen if a microbag was PC'd?

A PC and an autoclave are two different things that accomplish the same task in essentially the same manner.

If you are going to inject the bags through a silicone plug they are

Water vapor is exchanged; the exact amount is detected through trial and error. Don't let it get so humid that there are patches of waterlogged substrate -- you want it to be "airy." You can seal the bags before P.C.'ing; just make sure there's more than one bag in the PC'er before sterilizing so there is some space for air (I think Mycobag told me of this one; I can't take credit, but it works.) Then again -- I've blown a couple of pressure cookers this way, but I think only one bag was on top. I haven't had a problem since, but now I have an all-american. -- Micro

i have had no problem when i tried pre-sealing bags... only precaution is to remove as much of the air possable before sealing, and dont overfill bags too much

afoaf pressure cooked a sealed filter patch bag with a handful of toilet paper in it for about 20 minutes. the toilet paper was lightly damp. so it seems correct that a very negligible amount passes through. afoaf got all paranoid about this because he pressure cooks with tap water which is quite basic (pH 8.0+) and didn't know if it was effecting his yields.
