Little 1/2 pint Pyrex containers for PF Tek (Pic)

I was wondering about these things, I don't see why they couldn't be used for the PF tek. They're a little smaller than 1/2 pint jars but I think they'd be okay. Instead of PCing jars you could just put them in the microwave for a few minutes. You just wouldn't want to cover the holes with aluminum foil yikes... But I guess you wouldn't need to because the foil is only so water from the PC doesn't get in. Am I overlooking anything? Is there any reason these wouldn't work?

It will work, but I would suggest covering top with foil and PC instead of microwaving. I just don't trust those things for sterilization. Good luck eitherway

IMO a PC is a necessary tool for this hobby. BUT, you never know. Experimentation is what got us this far. So give it a go. Make sure you report back with the results

Steaming 4 oz (1/4 pint) jars PF style in a rice cooker worked for me.

The microwave will mess with the water ratio in the substrate... don't ever sterilize substrate with the microwave... My friend usually steams em in boiling water for 70 minutes (start at boil) and he has never had a jar contaminate (knock on wood).

Yeah, pressure cooker all the way.. otherwise your stuck doing the standard PF Tek with a pot of boiling water. I don't know anything about what kind of temps those containers can resist, though.. sorry.
has there.. ever been a sucessful microwave tek on this website? lol.. it seems like people are getting excited over microwaves because they don't need a pressure cooker.. but that makes no sense to me when you can just boil cakes - I've had 100% success so far.
I would not microwave. That's just my opinion. I'll leave incentive about the pressure cookers for someone who owns one.

hte problem with microwave is that you can't put container there for like 1h (which would surely be enough) instead of that you have to wave it a lot with 10-15 min intervals and that's where the flaw is.
By the way, Pyrex containers are designed to withstand oven temperatures (300-350 C) so it will surely hold up
