I just found a bunch of these (seattle)
can i eat the yellow type? same as the red?

hmm could be Amanita gemmata maybe, or even A.cothurnata - or just faded A.muscaria. AFAIK they all interbreed with each other, not sure about their relative toxicities though.

Amanita muscaria var. formosa I belive...I ate some and was not pleased with the results...your mileage may vary...make sure to cook em up right...look on erowid for instructions...

If you think you've found some, post some photos in the Hunting Forum. We'll make sure that you've got the right ones. Be sure to include photos showing the base of the stem (you did get the entire stem when you harvested them, right?).

Amanita is a dangerous genus for experimenting. The vast majority of fatalities from mushrooms are due to Amanitas. Be *very* sure before you eat any Amanitas.
