Found Liberty Caps ? Confirm please. Pictures inc...
    #1981167 - 10/05/03 11:55 AM (20 years, 6 months ago)

First, here are few pictures...

The place:

..and the mushrooms:

I found only 3 mushrooms that seems to be P. Semilanceatas... they were growing on one of those grass tufts that you can see in the above photo. They were about 10 cm high.... the stems were crooked... caps were slimey... the rest, well I think I can't describe them any better than you can see from the photos. I'm trying to take a spore print but I doubt it will succeed since the shrooms are already quite dry.

So... are these mushrooms P. Semilanceatas?

And finally.. here's a special bonus picture  of Psathyrella Conopilus that went through few filters:

Hard to say.

Is that blueing on the stem? Can you remove a gellatinous flap of membrane off the cap? I can sort of make out a sporeprint there off the stem below the gills, and it looks to be a purpleish color.

I'd guess to say, yes, they are...but, you should check all those things first.

So are those too old for eating even if they are Liberty Caps?

And would I feel anything only from 3 Libs?

they are libs, and they are perfect for eating, you will however want to eat more than 3 at once

Sorry I can't tell anymore.. now the stems are between ligh brown and almost black... they are very dry since I have kept them under a lamp.

Sorry I don't understand what a gellatinous flap means... but I'm quessing I can't do it since the shrooms are quite dry already.

yes that is Psilocybe semilanceata, or liberty cap.
go to that same field after a week or two of rain and you might find more of them

edit: you will probably need  to eat a dry gram to feel any worthwile effects

that's a nice shot of blueing. You may not need more than three.

its looks very old and maggot ridden on the inside, similar to maggot infested Panaeoli. if you dont mind, eat them, and if they dont smell like four year old dried dog barf.
