Can I case anyways?
    #1979168 - 10/04/03 02:22 PM (20 years, 5 months ago)

Okay, This sloth from the amazon e-mailed me a question about his 96% colonized cakes. He has these cakes that are colonized in every portion except just a dime sized area or so that just "wont colonize". Most of his jars would just end up one day pinning in this "almost colonized state". He would like to know if its okay to take the cakes out, and scrape the excess uncolonized substrate off, crumble and case whichever way he felt best. He is tired of cakes just birthing on there own when there not colonized all the way and he isnt given a chance to case them.

Also, can you case cakes after there 1st flush of being fruited in a terrarium?

You can probably get away with casing the cake if you're VERY clean. The uncolonized area is going to be very contamination-prone until it's colonized in the casing.

And yes, you can case a cake after its first flush.

Good luck!

there's a strong possibility that the cake is not colonized all the way through. don't get your hopes up.

get a PC and do grains. it's easier than the PF tek.
