does mold have rhizomorphic growth?
    #19788399 - 04/03/14 08:39 AM (9 years, 10 months ago)

say our common molds we battle...

i have growth on my agar plates, but they are on the sides (like satellite colonies).  but i can see really nice, what i would consider "rhizo" growth.
(plates inoculated by scraping spores from print)

its beeen 8 days since inoculation, and just started to see growth yesterday.

which made me ask the question this morning...

does trich or other molds have rhizo characteristics, or are they only of mushrooms?

No, but certain bacteria develop long string-like growths that are often mistaken for rhizomorphs.  If it's slimy and looks more like a noodle than a twisted bundle of thousands of linear strands of mycelium, then it's bacteria.
