yey!! FUCK YEA.

My a. agavoides have also a flower bud.. is it possible to do ariocarpus hybrids?
could I try to collect pollen from this to paintbrush, then put it in bag and freezer so I could give some pollen to another and see will it take it.
With lophs I have succeed to get proper pollen from used paintbrush, it was full of pollen(about week old) and I succeed to pollinate koehresii with it..
I hope sun doesn't go so away fast about my a. agavoides stop flowering.. (well I'll see it after some time)
These ariocarpus take some time to adjust there, this is my first ariocarpus flower ever.

Cool! I wasn't sure if it was going to open up for you. I had one flower last year and I never seen it open. Don't even think it did open.
And yeah, some species can be hybridised. I'll send you a couple of links via PM.

Awesome job Intelligentlife! I've got a few seeds that I'll be working with this winter in hopes to get something half as beautiful as what you have.

This flower still keeps on living. Just took picture from it again.

10/03/14 was day this opened, now it's early morning (1PM) 10/09/14
I like this picture, happened to taken by accident(camera flash didn't worked for some reason)
Flower have been closed and opened etc, now it doesn't have close the flower for night. I think it's last pics from this flower.

I may start fall in love to ariocarpus plants more and more, I don't know will some plants do buds too late, but climate adjusted plants will have bud on them, for example a. agavoides have flower bud. It's so beautiful flower.

How long your ariocarpus flower stay alive in your climate? I have seen they live some 4-5 days, open and shut down..
Unless those of yours have got pollen what cause they don't stay several days open?

In his climate, the flowers probably get pretty cooked so they don't stay open as long. I know when it's over 100 here in SoCal, they only stay open a day or two. He gets over 100 almost every day during the warm season.

So cold temperatures for my cactus have caused flowers to stay alive long time? nice..
Afaik ariocarpus flower after hot summer, seems they do well there. Problem is usually spring light shocks, especially after long cloudy days. Arios have been very tolerant to light condition changes so far, also very tolerant against pesticides to their rocky skin.
