Super nice blooms man! I like how you can barely see the plant the flowers are so big. My kotsch has buds on it but I'm not sure they're gonna open now it's inside. I sowed a bunch of seeds recently; retusus cv. Maruibo, fissuratus cv. Godzilla, retusus cv. Cauliflower, retusus cv. Grandiflora, clumping fissuratus, bravoanus & agavoides

I'll just throw in here what's been happening in the Ariocarpus front for me. Refer to the file names for ID.

Ariocarpus scaphirostris. Sadly my plants have been very incompetent at coordinating their flowers and I don't have collected seeds in recent years.

Theoretically, but when I tried nothing happened. Surely my fault.

Hey folks, long time listener first time caller. I've recently expanded my cacti collection to add this lovely Ariocarpus fissuratus, but have some questions about its health. One side has these yellow, almost rotten looking tips. They are hard and calloused, but should I be worried? Anything I need to do about these? Appreciate any help, thanks!

Its normal for tips to die but monitor it closely. My advice is not always iron clad.

Thanks! I'll keep an eye on them, they don't seem to have changed much in the time I've had it so hoping that's a good sign.
Here's a few of the other babies I added to my collection recently!

Very nice plants Snow Mountain! And welcome to the shroomery & the ethno garden
My kotschoubeyanus buds are getting real close to opening now, can't wait. I also sowed a bunch of seeds, some cauliflower, godzilla, maruibo, clumping fissuratus, and lots more.

Idk about different kinds of pollen but generally they can be frozen especially if you desiccate/dry them out well first - you can use a desiccant for that, drying agents can be bought at hardware diy stores.
I am relatively new to ariocarpus and only have very little but am sort of interested in weird cultivars of it and hybrids. Especially kinds with very lizard-like skin There are some beautiful species of ario and you guys have really nice plants.
It must be a nightmare on eBay with all the lophs and other nonsense you find with it right?

I've never tried with a drying agent. I tend to shrug and think "eh, maybe next year". The bigger and stronger the plants get, the more flowers they produce and for a longer time as well, increasing the chances successfull pollination.

Next year I'm going to save as much pollen as I can. I'm going to put it in vials that have a silicon seal healing top. I'm going to sick out the air and inject N2 in some and Argon in the rest.

That's pretty wicked, do you have a tip for where to find inert/noble gases in common products?

Lovely bloom shots to all. Is anyone still getting blooms? I have a few arios but im still prett new to growing them... is blooming this late in tbe season normal?
I feel like a dumbass, none of mine bloomed this year and right when it got cold i brought everything inside. Yet this winter has been crazy mild and has even a few warm days mixed in. Stumped as to whether i should leave them inside or put them back out... hopefully seeing a bloom or two before the shows over for this year. Im really bummed that my fissuratus didnt pop... as well as the other two ive bought since i was graced w the first round
Just noticed that i said "bloom" quite a bit... perhaps to an obnoxious extent. If so, and tylenol was needed for remedy.... then the pharmaceutical compaines will send me money
