You're opening a can of worms, here...

Ariocarpus kotschoubeyanus LH1176 flowering for the first time at the end of its fourth season (sown April 2009, flowering November 2012), proving they are not necessarily slow.

No. We can't refer you to where to buy seeds, as is outlined clearly in the rules of this forum.

I have collected ariocarpus plants randomly, never grown from seed but some plants I have got few years.

There is pics also from two new plants.. They are attractive, and wool of the surface show like this only in cultivation.. Same thing with peyote.

I have used to randomly give strong water showers to my lophophora and ariocarpus, it naturally rip some fluffy hairs away, It's just my habit to care cactus. I can do first the way I dip the pot to fertilized water (if need) and then give pure collected rain water shower directly to everywhere.

I have find out pure water is good when fighting against spider mites and when I randomly water plants with neem water, soil have neem oil and mites will be dislodged to soil what smells neem oil.. And I can avoid not to use any pesticides to skin.

My new arioarpus plants, I am in the process to repot them to these black square pots.. and add bick rocks for them like others I have got for some time.

What I love of these plants is, they basically survive from anything.. Skin is ROCK. :whoah:

One of my ariocarpus have started to take similar coloration they have in habitat, older sections are getting grey, also I like to collect rocks around them and grow these along big rocks with barely no soil or coco coir at all..

All of these have spectacular size tap root, some have more wider tap root at some point then plant it self.. Therefor these two new plants I have, sitting at round pot have basically no good root space.. I think in time these loose their very soft fluffy center because I spray my plants with pure water almost every night, just a littlebit, sometimes I give good strong water shower. :yesnod:

Sorry guy's I am so bad with labels.. I just like these plants, but labeling of buyed lophophora and ariocarpus I don't do if vendor doesn't send a label with them. But it's ok for me.. I like my garden the way it is.. Small and still nice specimens worth me more then money I have paid for them years ago. :dancer:

New plants I have buy'd some time ago, as they look, their hairs havent basically never touched.

And my older ones, Hairs from top have got off because water showers, it's ok for me

A. Fissuratus v. Intermedius, label says.

I have same species of ariocarpus, mostly furfuraceus or retutus if my memory works right.

These are size between 8-10cm wide ariocarpus above.:awesome:

This is similar to my bigger ones but half of the size. It's sitting at 5cm round pot. This is similar to others but size is "miniature"

A. Trigonus at 5cm wide pot

Sold as a. retusus

There I have experiment where I have in same pot filled with small plants. There are two young peyote barely can be seen near ariocarpus, then one caespitosa at corner, two ariocarpus agavoides and two Ortegocactus macdougallii at one corner and of button cuttings of l. jourdaniana.

I have read it's not good to add O. Macdougallii with any plant, it's very prone to rot, but there are all plants not so good with water, but my theory is someway obvious, more drinker means faster the soil dry.  Very fun to see how this community pot develop later on... It's fun to forget two <1cm hard grown peyote, soon 2yo at that community. Also A. Agavoides someway seems to fit there.. By appearance, o. macdougallii doesn't fit to this community but it's ok for me.. if I want I replace them with one loph or small ariocarpus. :yesnod:

I have find hard time to get ariocarpus flowering in here arctic.. When they have naturally flowering season, there is barely 1-2hour day length.. I have now new conditions and setup, I try to see do the start flower when cold frosts come and days are still long enough.. I maybe have to get light for winter, now I don't use anymore artificial light. I just think I got some what doesn't give however heat for plants over winter.. Maybe 3-4hour day over the darkest 2months of winter when there is no sun at all. Winter temps of my cactus spot it from +12-19C depends what kind of day is an how hard frosts is outdoors.

Ferrel, is that a 'fresh' picture or has it been posted before? I want to nominate it, but the rules say it has to be first posted during this month.
