I think mine adds iron.
As long as the heat from flaming the blade traveled down the internal part of the scalpel and got it hot enough that jar will probably be alright.

nice! my straw logs were too big for an sgfc. had to do them all open air, so they got wide and didn't elongate, but cracked during maturity a lot. ur set up looks better. I'm pretty sure we have the same culture too. urs is from sgt peep right?

rock and roll, boys and girls. cased those tubs, and stuck them in my newly minted fruiting arrangement. i'll get some fotos of that in a few days, i expect, and solicit some feedback. also, i'm stoked about my new, yet to be completed, still air box setup. fucking. rad... hint. 33 gallon tote from the containers and more store, on sale now. combined with my old one and some clever tinkering, i think i'll be able to g2g straight to mycobags with ease. this time next year, i might be lookin for a booth at the farmer's market.

and my oyster jars are kickin, if a little slow from supermarket clone, and got some pan cyans on agar just blink into existence. can anyone tell me if composted manure from the big orange store will work as well as fresh cowpie? it's just easier for getting started, under my circumstances.
life is good. soon, i'll be panhandling like il cronico.

awesome dude. i have tried several things with filter bags and g2g. eventually i ended up just putting an unused mono on bottom of my regular SAB, and doing it that way (simpler and just as effective as other more complex set ups i had tried). and now for my spawn bags, i just use an agar>lc, test on a plate, then straight to 5-6qt bags, no need for g2g. so i am excited to see what u have come up with b/c i always thought the forums could use a clever set up, just all the ones i did seemed to ghetto
glad to see u more on the forums JJ, i feel like when i first started on here i saw u way more, and always enjoyed ur posts, then u went into hiding (growing some good stuff i bet) and now ur back!

thanks leaf. dunno i never left... not for lack of trying. can't stay away. =D you're a fave too, bruv. guess i just been trying not to postwhore too much. i annoy myself sometimes. and i've deffo noticed what the old heads talk about all the time. same questions keep coming up over and over. my above manure question for instance... yeah asked and answered a thousand times. so now i gotta make nice with the local horse stables.

i read a bunch of outdoor threads this morning, and noticed a lot of ppl using black cow manure store bought, no heat treatment, with good results for outdoor stuff. if that manure in the "big orange store" (whats that?) is cheap, try it i guess? the recycling center is our city gets weekly deliveries from our zoo of poop. the pile is bigger than an RV, i should take a picture. i have not used it yet, but my friend swears by it.

haha reminds of the scene from jurassic park... that is one big pile a shit.
big orange = home depot. gonna try, it's $5 for a big bag, makes it cheaper than verm by a lot. still, i feel like the real deal is probably worth it. thanks, man.

Well to be honest out of those 6 pp5 cups only 2 of them really recovered so I'll case those two and see what happens. I think the grains were too wet in the other 4 which doesn't make sense considering they were all prepared at the same time.
I have some of the cultures on bulk bricks so if they do anything there I'll let you guys know.

 This is culture 1-6 arranged 123 456
as you can see 4 and 5 are fully colonized but do look sort of thick like bacterial. They've been consolidating for more than week now though and Ive smelled them and it seems to be fine.
2 and 3 look nearly fully colonized every grain is colonized but it's not filling in probably because the grain is too wet.
1 and 6 just look way too wet.

here's those ones I was talking about quite a while ago that I was doing in the meanwhile. They've still yet to pin they've been in fruiting nearly two weeks. There's some pieces of perlite in there from moving shit around but so far no pins at all.

cheers to learning experiences, bodhi.
here's my tubs. culture 1, sluggish, not diggin it at all. it was also the last to finish in the jar.

cultures three and four are both pinning like crazy, all over the sides, nothing on top.

so yeah, learning experiences... my fruiting chamber/weird greenhouse thing is not good for business. needs a humidifier, apparently the holey perlite trays aren't enough to humidify the space. should have lined the tubs. cultures definitely make a difference in growth performance. side pins... smh. hopefully second flush will be better. gotta find a cheap humidifier.
meanwhile, got two jars oyster spawn and a shitload of cardboard. gonna spawn soon (thursday?) to coke trays, wrapped in bags. cardboard should be pasteurized, yeah?
