I was just wondering what the percentage of left to right handed people is in here. I have some kind of theory, but I don't know what it is yet. I'm left handed myself, but somewhat ambidextrious. How about you?

I'm a righty...though I am also fairly ambidextrious. I think it comes from almost 20 years of keyboard usage. Can't type very fast without good control of both hands

Well I'm left handed as I write and eat with my left hand, but I've adapted to right handed society so I use a lot of right handed things..mouse..right handed guitar..stick shift..

I am right handed, but my hands are equal when typing or playing the keyboard. I am slightly left brained, though they are almost equal. When I take a step, I usually start out with the right foot, but not always.

There was a disproportionately high number of lefties at my alternative art high school as well... hmm... seems to suggest the theory that lefties tend to be more focused on right brain has some merit.
I am a lefty myself for the most part although some things I do righty... like play baseball, kick and snowboard. hmm... in sports it looks like i'm a righty... at least right footed. I write only left handed, i throw left, I masturbate left , and i pick things up left unless its heavy or big enough to need both. My right wrist and hand are weaker than my left, I find that at work I have to carry the heavier dishes with my left, my other hand is more likely to drop food all over people.

I can do anything with any hand though. I just chose right a long time ago because the whole world is engineered for righties.

Right handed here... although both hands are equal in typing skills, as well as driving... and other things that may require 2 hands.

I am naturally a right hander, I guess, as I just happen to write right handed. So, that's what I put, but I wish I could go back and change it to ambidextrious. I mean, I actually have more control of my left hand than my right hand, no doubt, because of all the bass guitar work. My right hand has it pretty easy, it is just two fingers and a thumb holding a heavy ass pick and either downpicking or alternateing...
I think I should also mention that I find it natural to kick stuff with my left foot. You know, like back in the day, playing kickball and stuff, I always found it more true and even kicked better using my left foot... sorta strange, I guess.

its harder for me to draw one going clock wise, is this because im right handed?
would a left handed person be able to draw a clock wise spiral easier then anti clockwise?

Right.. I don't know what my theory is.. I was thinking perhaps this type of forum would have more lefties than average, which seems to be the case..but there appears to be more ambidextrious people than lefties..which is interesting..

i saw a programe on tv the other night all about left and right handedness. it said nature has a biast towards right handedness. this is not just in people but in all things. there are a much larger prortion of right handed whatsits in living things than left handed. they talked about molocules too. and mirror worlds.
in the mirror worlds everything is subtley different. food would taste similar, but not the same. as the molocules or what not would made left handed.
also something about aliens catching the suns refelction from a huge forest on earth, and seeing if the light would bend to the left or right.
i didnt quite understand it all, but it talked a lot about cyrology?
anyone know anymore?
also had a few readings from through the looking glass.

Me, a lefty? Nope. I am what is known as a right-hander. Although I probably have more control over my left hand now, due to bass guitar playing.
What makes one person left-handed and one right-handed? I don't know. You give a kid a pencil, he has seen others using it a certain way, and he holds it in that hand as well, maybe?
I mean, the only reason most people can't pick up a pen and write something well with their other hand is because they don't have anywhere near the experience using the other hand..
Then again, I don't study this or anything, so who knows? Although I do know that with enough practice, I could write with my left hand just as well as my right hand, just like it took a lot of practice for me to learn to write perfectly enough (my writing is almost chaotic, I sometimes consider slowly writing the alphabet over and over again to like improve my handwriting, heh) with my right hand.
I do modestly, however, attribute myself with high creativity and imagination.. and I am still right-handed... hhm.....

like you, im left-handed but somewhat ambidextrous in that i do fine motor skills (write, cut/chop, aim) with my left and gross motor skills (throw, kick, punch) with my right. its weird.

Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

I am right handed, but my left hand dominates most of my musical activities. I drum left handed, play guitar left handed (though I trained myself to play with my right hand), and snowboard the lefty way. Though, I can't write with my left hand in the least, so I don't think any of these trends qualify me as ambidextrous. My mother is left handed, my father right handed.
I think the hypothesis being explored here is that left handed people are generally more creative and intuitive than right handed people, since it is the left ("logical") side of our brains which control the right side of bodies, and the right ("creative") side of our brains which control the left side of our bodies. I think it's important not to forget that motor control is certainly not the primary or most intensive function of our brains. I think it's also important to remember that the characterizations of the left and right hemispheres are just that: characterizations, generalizations.

I believe the right half of my body is slightly large, however Im pretty sure my left arm has more power.
I am mostly right handed though.

but all anyone else would notice is that your organs were on the wrong side of your body, and soon after you would probably die from being unable to digest mirror-world proteins.
Would our enzymes not also be mirrored?
I'm sure there's probably some chemical cycle/cascade that wouldn't work as well... but I can't think of one.

I think that in the future perhaps all beings will be ambidextrious in that the two hemispheres of the brain will be unified in synchronicity, in total balance.. perhaps even a larger (now) ethereal brain overlapping the two will grow in. Spiritual brain, mmmmm..

Most left handed people think they are somewhat ambidextrous since we often are forced to use both hands. But in reality there are very few true ambidextrous people in this world. Most people say they are to be cool.
Being ambidextrous means that you are EQUALLY proficient in using both hands at EVERYTHING. When you pick up a pencil to write or draw do you then pick it up with either hand without even thinking about which one it is?

Being ambidextrous is a learned trait. One can train themselves to be ambidextrous. But you are right, there are few that are ambidextrous.

yeah..I put that there for people who are completely ambidextrious... but I think a lot of people who are somewhat ambidextrious entered that into the poll. I am somewhat, in the fact that I can do most things I can do with my left, with my right..but I am far better at writing and drawing with my left hand..therefore I am left-handed.

I'm right but i normally use my left hand to do the specific work of cleaning my nostrils. I might think about more important tasks involving the left hand, like sex, you use your hands individually to perform distinct and specific actions, anyway, at least i do it
And yes, i clean my hands before making sex.

I'm right handed, but I think that corresponds with my focus on the left hemisphere of my brain.
The more I realize balance is important (coincidentally[?] the more I use my right brain), the more I use my left hand (side) for things.
