this is where you download hijack this: http://sourceforge.net/projects/hjt/
(you don't install it just run it)
this is where you paste the log file: http://www.hijackthis.de/

oh you wanna click "save logfile" when you run it, then copy paste the logfile into the online analyzer thing.

just use a bootable anitvirus cd from here http://www.thewindowsclub.com/bootable-antivirus-rescue-cd-windows-free-download there are 5 free bootable antivirus iso's just burn one to a disk turn off your computer then turn it back on while hitting f9. Then insert the disk, then select the cd rom drive.

well the frustrating thing is that i recently disconnected my DVD drive to plug in another 3TB HDD... i've been working on this hijack this thing that kimbo mentioned and it seems to have fixed a few errors, one in particular that was classed as "nasty", which was probably the malware in question.
worst case scenario i may just re-install windows, but i relaly don't want to have to do that. i think i'm just going to get some sleep and hope things are clearer tomorrow..... not to sure at the moment...

2nd malwarebytes you can get a lot of the good Internet securities as well by just searching for trials and that product's name. I have been running full versions of Norton for 3 yrs by doing this.A lot of companies offer trials of full versions of the same product so its really easy with a little effort to get better protection to prevent this.

I usually just always reinstall windows, I never really get virus/malware anymore though ever since I learned how to internet...
Even if it's something easy to get rid of I still reinstall windows, just because you can never be sure.
The computer I'm on now my little cousins were on earlie and they downloaded some tango bullshit and it's fucking everything up, I already deleted and deleted the chrome extension and reset all my chrome settings to default, it all did nothing, I'm gonna have to either edit the registry or just reinstall windows tomorrow.

The other day i was fucking tired or something and accidently clicked the wrong download button on mediafire or whatever, then my roommate yelled at me to run the program even though it was like "movie.exe" and i ran it.
now i have ask jeeves toolbars on the copy of IE8 i keep for testing websites

Personally if this ever happens I usually just reinstall the OS. I could go through various other avenues to try to solve the problem, none of which are guaranteed to work. Ends up taking more time and effort than just reinstalling.

Why go to all that trouble when you can just install AVG set it to update daily and run when your not using your computer.

Yeah but reinstalling is a big pain in the ass and I'd have to reconnect my DVD drive and install all my program's again

Yeah it comes down to what you personally find to be a bigger pain in the ass. Reinstalling things takes time, but you just do it and it's done. Removing the problem to without reinstalling might go smoothly, or you might try all kinds of different software tools and still fail (because infections are different and there is no guarantee that such a solution will even be possible.) Personally I don't find it to be worth the effort or frustration.
There is a way of using a USB key instead of a DVD to install Windows, don't remember the exact details but it's pretty straightforward. You pretty much just take an ISO image and run a program to copy it to the USB key and make it bootable.

Well I'm definitely still considering it as an option. I ran a tonne of program's that are fairly good at removing malicious spyware/adware, so I think it's fixed now. But if it still persists then yeah ill either look into the USB reinstall or connect up my DVD drive and use the CD.
Glad I got through that though. Thought I broke my brain again for a bit there :/
