less glib though, whats the point of being a peak performance human? where is the benefit? you don't have to be at your peak to make money, learn, fuck or have fun.
No, you don't. But you will do all of those things better if you are at your peak.

If you're satisfied with where you're at then that's great. I have this insatiable drive to be the best that I can be. Doing things to completion is very satisfying. Doing things to completion and doing them incredibly well, above and beyond what you previously thought you were capable of, is infinitely more satisfying.

Coffee is actually a huge part of Dave asprey"s biohacking diet. He recommends drinking "bulletproof coffee" which is organic coffee with grassfed butter and Mct oil or coconut oil added instead of cream and sugar. This makes the coffee very healthy and gives you a long lasting energy lift instead of a quick rush followed by a crash.
I personally believe organic white tea, Yerba mate or raw cacao are better biohacking drinks than coffee but I love coffee and when I drink it I make it bulletproof by adding coconut oil and grassfed butter or ghee (clarified butter).

Well I don't recommend ordering anything from Dave asprey . Just make your own at home . Just use your regular organic coffee and add a teaspoon or a tablespoon of coconut oil and a teaspoon of grass fed butter or ghee. The nutritional logic is completely sound. It makes your coffee into a long lasting nutritional energy source that is high in calories and healthy fats which as I said in the OP is a big part of the biohacking diet.
You don't need to buy any special products just make your own at home and enjoy the benefits and flavour.

You said "you don't have to be at your peak to make money, learn, fck or have fun, which is true, but if you are a your peak you will make more money, learn faster and better, fuck better and more often and have much more fun.

It sounds a lot like trying to live a healthy lifestyle combined with supplements. When I read biohacking I was thinking of DNA stuff. What came to mind was designer children with enhanced strength, intelligence, and immunity or something along those lines.

This is not biohacking. Biohacking involves making cool things in a lab, often DIY biohackers use a spare room in a house as a lab.
Your idea if biohacking is just exercise and taking drugs and eating food.
I go to regular biohacking meetings, here is an excerpt from the minutes of the last meeting - This is what we are planning on doing.
3D pattern formation toolkit Engineer plant cells to differentiate under (green?) light sensitive promoter Extrude protein based biomaterials (wool, silk, spider silk, etc.) using injectosome Engineer bacteria/yeast to break down gluten (already done? can be improved?) “YoVivo” resveratrol producing yogurt. Metabolic pathway starts by synthesizing p-courmaric acid -> can make *lots* of stuff from there, not just resveratrol! IR fluorescence proteins iGEM-compatible golden braid assembly Molecular biology techniques to evolve and select specific functions of interest (site directed mutagenesis, MAGE, SELEX, phage display, make and screen fosmid libraries for novel enzymes, …) Build hardware/robot to automatically run these protocols Make cheaper versions of expensive automation bots (e.g. flashgel) Growing things on a 3D printed surface with technology similar to peachy printer (e.g. using a photoactivatable gel, that traps cells?) Grow cellulose film using Acetobacter xylinum; slowly wind it up on a spool. Engineer the bacteria to incorporate pigments. Making vegan ‘cheese;’ express casein protein in yeast. Marc Juul is interested in working on this. Design an open-source, antibiotic-free plasmid for DIYbio - see indieBB campaign. Genspace has dibs on this, but might be able to collaborate. Get CRISPR-Cas9 system to work in E. coli and/or yeast. Probably tons of “professional” competition on this. More protocol optimization problem, than actual synbio problem. RNA based genetic circuitry, using riboswitches etc. See journal club video Use light-directed bacteria to deposit electrical or optical circuits - self assembling mega organic logic machines Sensor to detect DNA damage - use to look at water quality Command other bacteria to produce proteins of interest to ensure it is retained in ecosystem and not selected out by evolution Structural colors - with or without DNA origami Biosphere with biosensors to detect something going wrong - funding from NASA/SpaceGambit Degrade diuretic component in coffee/beer Caffeine breakdown deficiency Program to design metabolic pathways to produce any desired biochemical Light switchable tRNA / nucleotides Make genetically engineered strawberries that taste like mango, size of a peach, bioluminesce when ripe

Yeah thats definitely cool. I cloned a nuclease defective Cas9 which I'm going to cut out of the vector in the next few days and ligate it to plant stress hormone receptors so I can deliver shit wherever I want when I want in the nucleus.

As Alan pointed out biohacking is a more appropriate term for genetic engineering rather than eating food and drugs. I don't think eating piracetam daily for indefinite periods of time is healthier than not eating it. If anything you might want to stop taking drugs if you want to actually feel good (when not on drugs).

Biohacking goes very deep with super advanced and technical stuff , however the purpose of this thread is to introduce people to basic biohacking that is accessible and comprehensible to the average layperson.
That's why I recommended listening to Dave Asprey's podcast for some insight into all the different things biohacking can involve.
Sometimes biohacking has to do with genetically engineering other organisms but it can also have to do with interventions into the biological systems of our own bodies and that is the application of biohacking which interests me.
Other examples of biohacking involve things like bathing yourself in infrared light, using biofeedback technology to gain conscious control over biological processes. That are usually unconscious, doing home gene sequencing and strong a full generic reading of your own DNA etc, implantin magnets under your skin to give you an extra sense ( the ability to detect magnetism), cybernetic implants into your body (pacemakers, prosthetics, implants, etc) partial and progressive Merging of the human organism with technology, genetically engineering designer babies, creating structural changes in the brain through meditation, tinkering with your bodies ph level (becoming more alkaline), using electrical stimulation to enhance brain function , etc etc.
Biohacking overlaps with trans humanism.
It's just that entry level biohacking centers around diet, exercise, supplementation, gadgets and behaviour and psychological Modifications.

How does that work? I thought the body (as in outside your stomach) maintains a pH in very narrow limits and any deviation is deadly hence the very highly evolved buffer systems (like the HCO3- buffer system in your blood).

Well there is an entire podcast about ph biohacking . I am not an expert in it. A basic biohack is adding lemon juice to each glass of water that you drink, although acidic in and of itself it has an alkalis of effect on the body. The same is true of apple cider vinegar. Each day put lemon juice in your water and eat a salad with apple cider vinegar and olive oil for dressing . A more extreme biohack is to put 1 tsp of Baking soda In a glass of water each day and drink it.
Avoid acidifying foods like coffee, alcohol and sugar and eat alkalinity foods like green veggies.
The theory is that disease thrives in an acidic internal environment and because of Our unhealthy diets and lifestyles most of us have an acidic internal environment and moving the body to a more alkaline state is beneficial for health.

Nothing you eat will change the ph level of your blood - Your body buffers that very carefully.
