I was going to move the chat room over to irc.lycaeum.org, but the chat applet that we use for people to access IRC through the web page will only connect to thier server (irc.webmaster.com). I'm afraid if I move the chat room, that we will lose half of the chat members. Some input into this would be appreciated. Later, Aphex.

aphex: i connect to the chat room through the site not the irc(haven't got an irc client) and it sucks not to be able to access the rooom. tip

Try again. Webmaster (the company who's code we are using) keeps changing the URL we are refrencing. I updated our pages *again* to get it running. I tried to just download the code from them and store it locally but it refused to work. Hopefully they'll stop changing the location.

The Lycaeum now also gives the option of accessing its IRC server through a java client, I'm sure all that would need to be done is change a few variables. A notice could even be posted on the webmaster.com #shroomery channel notifying everyone of the move- doesn't chanserv preserve the topic even when there's nobody on the channel?

Yes Chanserv does preserve the topic. For the people who don't have IRC clients, you should download mIRC v5.02 from www.tucows.com. It takes up around 1mb of space and this way you can connect to any chat server out there. I think we should move, irc.webmaster.com is too unreliable.
