Would You Like My Music?

So here's the scenario. I've been using FruityLoops for about 4 years now ... spent an estimated 600-800 hours in it ... and come out with 26 full songs ... and about 20 other ditties. So, I'm in the process of remixing, editing, and mastering.
What kind of music is it? Well ... some downtempo, though not quite lounge, darker than lounge. Some drum and bass, crazy stuff. Some tribal. Some hip-hop beats. Some ambient stuff. And other random sounds and compilations. The CD will end up being close to 80 minutes of music.
What i'm trying to do here ... today ... before your very eyes ... is create a list of people and their home addies ... so that I may send you your very own ... limited edition ... CD. If you'd rather send me your address through a PM, that'd be great, too. Any monetary contributions to cover shipping or just for support are humbly appreciated, though this is in no way a requirement to acquire this limited edition production.
So ... who's interested?

Why do you need our addresses? It's much easier and efficient if you just upload some of your best work to the web, then we can choose which songs to download and provide instant feedback or make our own CD - then if its good enough and we want to support you, you leave us your address and we'll toss you a few bucks.

Yeah, put up a few mp3s. It's free if you use a service like mp3.com. I think there are some much better ones than that now though.

Is taht a safe way to do it? I mean ... it would really blow to hear that someone bit my beats. How should I go about copyrighting the stuff ... or is that all explained at mp3.com?

Once you put your music out into this world it is automatically copywrited. If somebody uses it, you just have to prove that you wrote it first and they stole it. This can be accomplished by putting a cd of yours in an envelope and sending it back to yourself. Then if any legal issues come up you have your work in a sealed container stamped and dated by the federal government. It's that simple.
I'd use someone other than mp3.com though. They were really cool back in the day, but now they only let you upload 3 songs and they try to get you to buy all kinds of shit. I'm sure there are probably similar services out there that are better. I just don't upload music anymore so I don't know them.

That's a good idea about the CD sending ... would that really be legitimate proof?

Doing that mail thing doesn't always hold up. Check out mp3.com, man, they have a link to a company that will officially copyright songs for a small charge. It isn't too much, I think, but it is definitely worth it. Peace.
