Eggs in a Nest - A Simple Luxury

I learned this is seventh grade home-ec like 10 years ago. They are so easy to make and the outcome is wonderful
What You Need ------------- Egg(s) Bread Butter (or substitute)
Optional Cheese Hot Sauce Pretty much anything else
1. Butter both sides of a piece of bread 2. Use a cup or circular mold to cut a hole in the iddle of the bread 3. Beat eggs to a consistant texture 4. Throw bread in the pan, pour egg in the hole 5. Heat on low-medium heat so egg cooks through a little, so its easier to flip 6. Cook until bottom is golden-brown, flip, repeat 7. Top w/ some hot sauce and enjoy
If really doesnt matter if the egg stays in the little hole. I personally like it better with the egg cooked all over the bread. You can add cheese, bacon, onions, or pretty much whatever you want to the egg mix. It takes like 5 min. and even an idiot could cook it. Low maintenance cooking - gotta love it!

Tried one of these yesterday instead of just frying an egg. It's all good! Probably good with bacon or onions as you say.

i found some ordinary white loaf bread here when i went grocery shopping (it's really hard to just find normal white bread here but there are tons of other types of breads) and i just made myself this eggs in a nest dish as a snack!
i topped it with some salami, cheese and hot sauce
kudos for the recipe!

I'm not a big fan of over-easy eggs, hence the beating and cooking throughout
They really are a wonderful and easy thing to cook!

Bah, you can keep your "Eggs in A Basket". I can't stand the filth of a runny egg yolk. Much better beaten, Mr. Paradis!

actually paradis...that's how i "modified" my eggs in a nest...the beaten eggs didn't taste as good as just cracking the whole egg within the hole of hte bread..
btw i've been eating this for a few days now eveyr morning i shouldn't though, my cholesterol count is quite high and this isn't helping it

I've always heard it called eggs in a nest and only my male friends eat it. Ive never seen a woman make one before. I think it is because men prefer their meals all mixed together while women typically seem to like their foods seperatable.
I think the whole concept is gross, be it scrambled or runny. I'd much rather make an egg mcmuffin and thoroughly cook the egg yolk and put it between bread, not imbedded within it.

maybe women shouldn't eat stews and such now wouldn't that be a pain to seperate your meat and veggies in your bowl
i've come to like runny egg yolk after i moved outside of the US. with the whole salmonella scare with eggs not prepared well, my parents never really allowed us to eat eggs sunny side up.
in the UK where the typical fried breakfast consists of fried bread, sunny side up eggs, bacon, sausage, grilled tomatoes and baked beans...it's quite common for people to dip their fried bread in egg yolk. this eggs in a basket thing is quite similar tasting.

I'm just not a big fan of rnny egg yolk. As long as you are enjoying youe "nest" or "basket", I suppose that's all that matters.

maybe it's because women would rather make real food, and men are typically lazy and content with making something as easy as cracking an egg in a hole of a slice of bread.

Maybe. I could be completely wrong. When I was in college I worked as a waitress and I did a psychological study for my mid term paper on what women eat vs what men eat. By and large it seemed to actually follow patterns. I also hypothesize that geographics and culture have alot to do with it.
Boo, I think soups null and void said patterns. Im curious if you had 4 different soups.. potato, chicken noodle, chili and beef stew.. I wonder what would sound the most appetizing to the largest number of either sex.

Another variation of this would be to just soak the entire slice of bread in the eggs and cook add a dash of Cinnimon or Nutmag and after cooking, slap on a plate add syrup PRESTO French Toast.
