...Tricholomopsis?

Apologies for the quality of the image, but I was with friends so mushroom photos sadly went by the wayside. I dried a specimen if anyone is interested.

Habitat: Growing in bright sun in the middle of a dry sandy trail through saw palmetto prairie. Growing in pairs or threes apparently terrestrially.
Gills: Pale yellow, somewhat thick
Stem: Hollow. Thick and yellow with scattered red-brown fibers especially near the base.
Cap: 2.5-3" in diameter with tufts of red-brown fibers scattered
Spore print color: not collected
It smelled pleasant, like store-bought mushrooms.

Neat. Are those colors accurate? Looks a little warm maybe?

They are a bit warm/yellow. Yep. All I could think was Tricholoma/Tricholomopsis, but I have never found either of those genera before. Plus this was growing out in the blazing sunlight in a very dry area. Strange.

What?! You've never found a Tricholoma? Florida is such a strange state...

Thanks all. I will keep digging. Anyone have a good Tricholoma/Tricholomopsis source?
