I found some Pan. Subbalteatus the other day, so the Ps. Semilanceata is not the only one we have here...Altough it's alot more common...In the past 2-3 weeks I've found over a 1000 Liberty Caps! They say there's a few more active species growing here (Pluteus Salicinus and a few more of the active Psilocybe kinds)
I hope you're feeling better, buddy!

well if you got a "stoned sort of feeling" then you probably ate what looks like a liberty cap but is actually psilocybe placebo.

Well my humble opinion is.... if you don't know what they are then you've never even seen a Liberty Cap in real life. Once you've seen one, you've seen them all. Abit like tits!

active mushrooms growing in Sweden (Skane): Inocybe Haemacta, Inocybe corydalia, Panaeolus subbalteatus, Pluteus salicinus, Ps. coprophila, Ps. fimetaria, Ps. liniformans, Ps. semilanceata. Atleast thats the ones I know of. If you wanna find out which of these grow in your area of Sweden, use my list above and check out this page: http://www.algonet.se/~fungus/
If you have any questions please send me a message! Good luck and READ UP before you go out there!!!

Hey, stonedroller, I went to that site before and read through the reports from last year and this year about finding liberty caps, I looked in those kinds of places like fields and stuff and still cant find any. I'm starting to wonder if there are any around here right now. Thanks for all the replies though, I think I'm feeling alright but symptoms may still come, I hope not though.

Naa..you?re home safe now.. There is actually verry few poisonous lookalikes that grow in the same habitat as Liberty caps in Sweden and those who are is pretty rare, but still one have to be careful. And YES they are out there right now.

you should be in the clear, but do not forget that orraline[sp?] and the similar toxins can take weeks to show symptoms. on the other hand, the longer the symptoms take to manifest the better your odds.

If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

NOPE!! good try though. its easy to key them out with a good online description such as this http://www.mushroomjohn.com/species43.htm
read up and you'll seriously learn a lot and you'll know how to find your own stuff. the mushrooms are too big and the caps too wide and too conical and bell-shaped.
-the nipples are too rounded and wide. not abrupt and like a mosquioto bite. -the mushrooms are way too big and the caps too wide - too conical and bell-shaped. the nipples are also too rounded and wide. -the gills are creamy from what i can see, the gills of libs are from grayish, brownish to purlplish brown. - is the pellicle removable? -the margins of the cap are not incurved.

yeah but the problem is I can't find any, in the city just nearby mine theres a park which stoneroller visits and theres shit loads of libs there now, but none over here. If I would've seen the real thing anywhere I sure would've picked it up, I've checked loads of pics . I'm thinking of goin out hunting again but I know I'll come back without mushrooms or with something looking like libs but not the real thing well thanks guys for givin me some sites n stuff.

Heh, don't give up, you will be a happy, happy mofo when you finally find what you're looking for, and if you keep hunting and reading (emphasis on the reading ) it's bound to happen...

hmmmm i dont think so, but im not familiar with the species enough to tell from that picture. it appears not to me because of the color of the gills, which appear light again? overall the shape looks similar especially the second from the left. the first on the left is definately not a lib although i cant tell what it is from that photo.
try getting an accurate description with the thing i listed earlier and checking for them or get nice gills shot with stem closer up.

the gills were pretty white, they're too dried now to be able to take a picture, but if I eat those I won't feel anything anyways and they were the only mushrooms growing in that place. They were growing in the grass. Any swedish people around here who know if liberty caps are still around or if I'm too late. I live in Eskilstuna. Thanks!
