Terrarium for Casings?
    #1970029 - 10/01/03 06:48 PM (13 years, 3 months ago)

Quick question....  I read in a FAQ that it is often not neccessary to have a pearlite, humidifier, or bubbler humidity setup in your terrarium if you care fruiting casings because the casing layer with often provide enough humidity.  My question is, if you were going to build a new terrarium stricktly for casings... what methos would you use?  Pearlite?  any input would be appreciated.  I was thinking about having my FOAF put his casings in individual styrofoam coolers with pearlite in the bottom... good idea?  any better ones?  please help asap... these fuckers are about ready to fruit and need a ned home

From what I've been told when I asked a similar question, perlite is not at all needed, and that simply spraying will provide enough humidity.

ok.. so pretty much you only need an enclosed container that lets light in and keeps contams out?  not really much to construct with casings?  It seems much easier than cakes so far... (knock on wood)... any other ideas?  Plain old syrofoam coolers with plexiglass lids and a little spraying here and there is it?  more info please

A cleaned out plastic container makes a fine fruiting chamber for a casing. Spray the walls when you see it starting to dry out and give the casing a lil spray every once in a while. If you mist casings too much they will contam.

you can fruit in a single enclosed tray, but therefore the tray is now your casing tray AND the terrarium. you can make a big terrarium to transport trays in and out of and just line the bottom with perlite and water and you will be fine. doesnt really matter just dont let anything dry out

i unno why mess with a terrarium, just get a big ass sterlite container for like 4 bux at wally world, get yourself some straw or shit or both. pasteurize and spawn that fucker. if your putin shit in a terrarium your wasting space just make each tub a casing. for one you got bulk, to they dont cross contaminate eachother. there stackable. couple mists a day they keep there own humidity up. plus these tubs can be found anywhere and any size. hmm 4 gal horse shit 1 gal spawn, hmmm what could be the outcome of this? ONE NICE FUCKING FLUSH

not once its pasturized, and if its mixed with straw you can barley smell it.

Got a nice terrarium w/ humidifier hookup... i just want to do casings now though... not cakes... and he needs more room than the old terrarium provides. Would you keep the humidifier and hook it up to all the casing terrariums? or just sell it and forget about it?

As SixCee said, that's all it needs to be.
