Lepiota or close. none of them are active, some are toxic.

mushrooms with white flesh and white gills should be avoided. lepiotas should be avoided.

if you want an id you'll have to follow the guidelines in the stickies for describing a find.

they do resemble C. molibdites but not all the way. the ring and look of the mushrooms is kind of sturdy as hell for that species. and what color are the gills in mature specimens.

in the future do not expect us to id from such poor pictures. if it was not for the distinctiveness of the mushroom, it would have been hard to get you an answer.

PtS: you're being a bit rude man. magma was advising you to follow the rules. you are not supposed to post "are these active" questions. you are perfectly welcome to ask for IDs but will be expected to comply with the rules for doing so.

HOw many? 8 that means when I screw up I have 8 diffrent people comming over to tell me about it" One person told me and I didn't fight it it was done the other peole replying to me tellling me nothing new are simply trying to add to their number of posts.........better tey if you can close this post that should relive the problem

One of the reasons you'll get multiple people chiming in on what your mushroom is is that sometimes we disagree with each other. If I see that somebody has posted an ID in a thread and I think they're right, I often will skip posting in that thread. For poisonous mushrooms (e.g., this thread), you're more likely to get a bunch of people agreeing with the ID - we want to try to make it clear that the mushrooms in question are truly poison so that somebody doesn't just blow off the ID because that person isn't as good as others.

So all you're getting is more help than you anticipated. Any time you get multiple people posting to an ID thread, they're all trying to be helpful. OK, except for the occasional flamers that post "j00 r n idiot" comments. In this forum, we moderators frown strongly on that shit, and those people get warnings or bans (if it's not their first time). On the other hand, we do get carried away with the "I ate these mushrooms, what are they?" theads, and those sometimes turn a bit into flamefests.

Incidentally, on these mushrooms, the first photo seems to show that one of the mushrooms gills is turning greenish, one of the very key identification features of this species. If you make a spore print, it will come out greenish - an unusual color for a spore print. The other key feature I note in these is the size and distribution of the scales on the cap, and the way the white cap surface appears sort of granular. Those are both features that differ from this species close lookalike, Lepiota rachodes (which is an excellent edible mushroom).

I'm going to wildly guess that you were hoping for Psilocybe cubensis. If so, next time make sure you make a spore print on white paper. It should come out a dark purplish brown. That will help you eliminate the majority of mushrooms that are similar looking.

So nobody is talking down to you in this thread (yet). MagmaManiac's point is that we need more info than some photos for most kinds of mushrooms. Yours, in this case, are pretty distinctive, so there are exceptions.

Happy mushrooming!

No, it's one from the Denver Zoo. It's a little tough to see in that thumbnail, but he'd just shed the day before, so he was iridescent with greens and pinks. He's probably about 8 or 10 feet long.

Happy mushrooming!

At least he had pictures. Think about all those who come in with no pics and want an ID.

yea i know, then we need a GOOD description with details like in a book. its annoying when you see the form and you know the genus or the difference between two species and you cant tell because its so blurry, or when you cant tell at all. like it could be the little Boletus satanas statueette.

junga junga. stop taking everything so ferverously like a proud alligator that chomps the last gazelle even though hes fat as hell.

now, peace my niggs.
