Those pics are Awesome Tmethyl. You have a style that's becoming distinct very quickly,
The cigarette pic is seriously wicked, and the cityscapes are all gold.

Cigarette... That's Kyle, he did some urban hiking around Sarasota FL with me. Sarasota turned out to be a pretty cool town - I still prefer the woods though.

Here's tonights haul of digiphotos. I realize these are really grainy. I need to get a timer for the camera if I plan on doing more nighttime pics.

Just single RAW photos worked in lightroom. Thirty second exposures. I just bid on a remote timer though.

Hey DG, I got remote shutter releases at Walmart for $10. They work fine even 10ft away from rig. Nikon and Canon.

I'm hoping this should do. It's what I ordered last night.

Do you know of any cheap, respectable tripods? I really don't want to spend more than $70 if possible.

I've had a black Targus tripod for about 2 years, and it's showing no signs of breaking or wearing out. You should always be able to find great tripods for under $50, my Targus was $49.99.
I got some interesting shots today and last night, I'll elaborate a little:
Sorry about the small size, I don't seem to have $3 for an upgraded account on Imgur. I think I need a new hosting site anyways.
Some random tree blooming like crazy

A really neat weed I found blooming in a fully shaded area, definitely going to get an ID on this one. As for now, I dub thee; 'Shrimp Flowers'.

Here is where things got a little strange yesterday evening. The composition of the following set of photos is a little complicated as many factors came into play in the final product. I'll just post them, then I'll attempt to describe what happened, I invite input or theories.

To describe what's going on above: 1) I aligned the mushroom with the setting sun. 2) With a spray bottle I was spraying water from an angle, top left to bottom right. 3) 1 second exposure, few of those shots were 2-3 second exposure however. 4) ISO 100 5) Diffused -1 flash (Canon) 6) Water was pooling in the bowl-like shape of the mushrooms cap.
Somehow, the above equation equals the lightning-like energy waterfalls coming off the mushrooms. What I think happened was the pool of water atop the mushroom was being blown off by hard spraying, and as the water descended the setting sun was refracted into the water drops and recorded over the duration of the 1-3 second exposure.. a subtle form of light painting basically.
Not sure how I pulled this shot off, and it is framed so nicely for basically being a hip-shot with a macro lens on AF.

Great pictures. I love how well you set up for your shots.
I got a Targus tripod and it seems great so far. I can't wait for mh timer so I can do some legit night shots.
You shoukd try smugmug for hosting. The site works great, quick, cheap, easy to organize, and link photos, and the mobile site works great.

DG, doesn't your camera have the built-in timer? I rarely use my remote, I just set a 2 second or 10 second timer, take hands off camera, and let it shoot. Basically the same effect as the shutter release remote.

I'm talking about a long exposure remote. The camera only does thirty seconds, but the timer goes to a hundred hours.
