never have I seen so many mushrooms growing in the wild....
    #1966812 - 09/30/03 06:57 PM (13 years, 2 months ago)

I live on long island. I went for a bike ride (shroom hunt). Along the way I found a 9 inch tall mushroom that was wrecked so I couldn't identify. After that I rode my bike outside a horse stable and outside the fence, I saw two or three pieces of bark or something, and on the ends of the bark were about 50 tiny white mushrooms. They were completely white, and really small. Anyone got any ideas?

this post kinda belongs in mushroom hunting
as for what they are; small, white, and growing on bark doesnt narrow it down too well.

others are going to tell you this too

http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat...o=7&fpart=1

please read those two links, add some more to your description based on them, then post an ID request in the mushroom hunting forum.

btw, if you have a camera or a digital camera, they will aid you and us greatly in identification.

EDIT: post was moved promptly by a mod, so disregard "this belongs in..." sentence. =)

Without any other information, its hard to guess.

First thing that comes to mind is Mycena...

Another mushroom which I have seen, and are completely white are these guys: Strobilurus trullisatus. They are EXTREMELY small...no longer than a centimeter or two.

Also, here is a picture of some white mycena's which were covering the entire forest floor!!

that last picture is just simply beautiful angryshroom.
i nave never seen so many naturally occuring mushrooms in a given area.

mind if i ask where that picture was taken?
not specifically of course, but the geographic location/description.
mainly curious about the type of woodland they are in...dense forest, mountainous regions/forest, tropical climate/forest...and things like that.

Most people don't get too upset about you taking photos of mushrooms. If you have to trespass or block traffic to do it, that might get you in trouble.

If you want an accurate ID, you'll need to pick some of them and bring them home to answer questions about.

Happy mushrooming!

Hey, the picture was taken in Northern California last December. They were found in a redwood and pine forest about 10 miles from the coast.

Very rainy during that time of year, there are mushrooms everywhere!
