I'm also trying to grow mimosa but it's looking bleak. I soaked the seeds overnight and put them wrapped in a moist paper towel in a baggie. Within days 8 or so had germinated and I put them in soil. The rest are still in the baggie. I might try to soak them again and start over. Of the ones I planted, the ones that already developed leaves did fine for a while but all but one fell over and died. Same thing happened with my datura sprouts, I'm used to sowing cacti so I guess I just need to hone my skills for leafy plants. The ones that were just a root when I planted them haven't done anything.

Hey guys with established viridis plants, how often do you water them? I have a cutting with some roots sitting into a cup of soil and a gold peak bottle over it to drive up humidity(the plants sit in 80-95% humid areas, so it might not matter if it is under a humidity dome?) but the plant has started to recently develop large brown spots on the leaves. I don't know if this is because it's rotting or what and at this point I really don't want to dig it up because I've only had it for a few weeks now I think. I also have the other half of the leaf sitting in a tray of perlite and water with another gold peak bottle(I love gold peak tea... so good) over it. The water levels are very low and just enough to keep the perlite moist. It too seems to have brown spots but at the tip of the leaf.
Here, pictures speak better or whatever...

Well these guys came in the mail, the larger batch of smallish leaves were sold as P. Viridis, the pair were sold as P Nexus, what ever that means.... Only one of the larger leaves appears to not be wavy

So I know there hasn't been much activity round here recently...
It's starting to get a bit cold and I want to bring my leaf cuttings inside. Do any of you guys grow under lights? Can I get some recommendations on light types and distance?

Yea, sweet.
I get how to grow under lights, I was more interested in how some on here handle their set up if they are bringing plants in over winter. But by your uninformed reply I fear I shall once again come to the conclusion that no one here has any idea about growing this plant.
Your a fucking idiot.

So I'm also interested in this. From my understanding they like "bright shade" what ever that means. I was just going to put them in well lit parts of my house, but out of direct sun light. So like north facing windows and in rooms that have east or west facing windows

I have several small plantlets from my leaves. I broke each of them in a dozen or so places along the main vein and I have one leaf that has already put off 5 plants. After managing to tease them away from the main leaf, the leaf looks rough but continues to produce.
None of them are very big yet but so far none of them have failed. All leaves were planted in well draining soil and soaked with water, then placed in a gallon Ziploc freezer bag too maintain moisture.
I have been keeping them all in a window that gets about 3-4 hours of direct light each day. So far they all seem to flourish.

This is about the stage I'm at but I haven't split them up. have 5 leaves in and count 9 little guys like an inch or so. Unfortunately I didn't look into it to much before I started and just stuck them in the soil base first... I'll definitely be planting on the side next time.
At what size did you tease them apart?
I was thinking of putting them under a little light but still close to the window to get as much natural light as possible.
Think I'll put them in a little tank too so I can keep the humidity up...

I pulled mine off when they were showing good development on the leaves. Once it resembles a new plant, you should be good.
And planting the leaf on its side instead of laying flat in the soil is a must for next time. They seemed to have grown from the bottom and broke through the leaf. It's making it hard to keep the leaf together and pull the plantlets free.
So long as there leaf is still green, it's alive and will produce.

So you think like an inch is OK?
It's pretty compact growth on its 3rd pair of leaves but they are still only little.

I've been removing mine when they get 4 good leaves. And an inch is plenty good to get sunlight. I'm a firm believer, though, that it's better to err on the side of safety than to lose it all.

Also, when I do remove them, I keep them in a humidity dome to keep them from drying out. They are fragile when younger but they can handle a bit.

Here is one leaf

The rips in this leaf are from the plantlets coming up through the bottom. My next leaves will be placed on their sides with the long edge of the lead sticking out for sunlight instead of the tip of the leaf. I'm not sure how well it will work but in theory.... To plantlets won't have to go through the leaf to break the surface of the soil.

Recommend, I believe the lack of humidity is why mine never took off.
