Hokay so,
I'd like to dedicate a thread to those who grow any variant of psychotria.
Here's a newly sprouting alba leaf.

This is a pretty new viridis leaf, with 3 shoots.

I think I'm going to take my first swing at growing Chacruna this year. I might even grab some Aya vine & try to grow it as well. Any tips for growing in Mid-Eastern U.S. climates (i.e. Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia)? Anything to look out for when buying seeds?

Just a heads up to people wanting to grow psychotria alba; it is not active. Lots of psychotria alba are sold as viridis.

Thanks for that info. I was leaning towards alba at first, because it is apparently more climate-hardy and a faster growth plant. I've now read up on the phenotypic differences, the main one being that P. viridis has a very little (almost no) petiole [leaf stem], where P. alba has a very distinct one most of the time. Thanks for saving me from much disappointment.

Not to get too pedantic, but just because DMT was not isolated from P. alba does not mean they are not active. The UDV does use P. alba in their brews and there are anecdotal reports of activity though effects are different than P. viridis.
Almost all Psychotria you see for sale are not P. viridis.

I've seen people reporting that it has about 40% less DMT. I don't know how they backed that up, but most say the more rapid growth makes up for it. Which is fine if you plan to extract it. However, for a true Aya experience, most suggest using P. viridis. Which makes sense seeing how DMT is one thing you just have to have a certain amount to break through with. And certain different species color experiences differently.

Syrian rue is definitely easier to grow, it's used to a much dryer climate and spreads rapidly as a weed does. Caapi is sooo particular, it's taken me 3 plants to get where I'm at currently, you can check it out at the caapi thread. It's really, to me, the novelty of the plant but also it's overall shamanic perception.

P. alba is definitely active. The most striking difference between P. alba and P. viridis is that P. alba has undulate (wavy) leaf margins and P. viridis has flat leaf margins in that regard.
Almost all the traded clones of this plant, regardless if the vendor claims P. viridis or P. alba are in fact P. alba.
Seeds need to be fresh and very often prove inviable. The plant is far easier from cuttings, as demonstrated in the OP. Psychotria is very unique in its ability to be reproduced from just about any part of the plant, including singular nodeless leaves.

Well here's one of my new psychotria albas. The guy I got it from said it was sold to him as viridis, but he believes it's alba. I've got viridis on the way now too, though.

I too have 3 leaves rooting right now but 2 actually are putting shoots out! This one right here has 2 already:

Been wondering if I should start moving them into the light more as they have been in a humidity chamber on a windowsill for months...

I bought a rooted leaf but it turned brown and died. Major disappointment. I misted pretty often too.

I bought a rooted small plant a year or two ago and it slowly died They seem like they can be tricky to keep alive.
Where did you keep your rooted leaf? Maybe try buying a bundle of leaves to root yourself online, that is what I did this time.
Got like 10-12 leaves for 10-15$ and managed to keep 3 alive so far But since 2 are sprouting I am a happy camper.

I had 2 of 3 shoot some sprouts after about a year of rooting a leaf, but lost them due to laziness, you would think after that long I would have been all over
