Hericium erinaceus on straw ?
    #1928303 - 09/18/03 06:56 AM (20 years, 6 months ago)

I read somewhere the other day that Hericium erinaceus can be cultivated on straw. Has anyone tried this with sucess as it's a pain sourcing hardwood sawdust where I live.

If it doesn't work maybe some strain development would be fun.

Isn't that referred to as the boar's head mushroom? If I'm not mistaken, it grows out of trees in high branches and forms a huge ball-like growth that is a delicacy.

I'd go the cloning route if it was picked from the wild, less hassle with contams IMO
