Howdy all, haven't been around these parts for a little while.

Possibly of interest to UK growers: I've moved into a small place and don't have space for my hobby at home any more, so I need to find good homes for things.  In particular, I want to sell my flow hood

If anyone takes this off my hands (gets it out of my living room) they'll be getting an awesome flow hood, and getting my girlfriend off my back.  I can probably throw in a load of prints and some other miscellaneous supplies.

:pm: me for details if you're interested.  Collection from Kingston upon Thames.  I *might* be able to deliver it if it's not too far.

Might be of some interest to some in the UK - I've been using plastic clip lock tubs with filter and self healing ports fitted for grains - Wilkos do a 2.3 litre one for about £2.50 - I couldn't get a much bigger one in my pressure cooker in fact I'd say they're the perfect sized tub and I just do one instead of cramming two in there

Hi not sure what you mean by a pp seal but I've been using these in my pressure cooker with no issues at all: http://www.wilko.com/food-boxes+containers/fontal-keep-fresh-storage-container-round-2300ml/invt/0318279

If those are PC able that looks great. Usually the container is made of PP (Poly propylene) which is autoclavable but the seal or lid is not. Thanks for the tip!

Shiiiiiiiiiiiit... Haven't checked my threads for a few weeks.

Good to see you around Andy, how are things? Hope you are doing well man.

I would be very interested in the hood if it is still going.. :pm: me with whatever details you have. (dimensions, cost yada yada yada).

Haven't got a huge amount of space myself, but got storage I can use and looking for a new place to live at the moment. Hopefully find somewhere with enough extra space to get back into the mycology world properly, been far too long since I grew edibles/medicinal/interesting etc...

Will drop a :pm: in case ya don't see this, though not sure what the point of typing that is.. :crazy2:

Again, good to see you are still a free man and at least you have a girlfriend on your back/front or wherever, things could be worse!! :peace:

Saw two jars today I'm thinking of buying for my grains - pickled chilli peppers (800g) 89p in Home Bargain - looks to be very similar to the 1 litre Kilner apart from the screw lid obviously. Also, 1kg jar of beetroot in B&M for 99p - seems even bigger than the chilli jar - definitely a litre, maybe more. I'm also using a number of pickled onion jars from Home Bargain for liquid cultures - bout 59p each I think although the lids are quite thin so be careful if drilling. Might be of use to someone on a budget.

I've bought many, many spore syringes from eBay but you have to keep checking every day or set a saved search as they seem to pop up for a week or so then disappear - never had a bad one yet and they're bloody cheap. As for woodlovers I searched high and low on the net and couldn't find any in the EU. Just bear in mind that whereas most parcels within the EU aren't subject to a search, a huge amount from the US are. Whilst spores aren't illegal I wouldn't be surprised if you were added to some database nevertheless. Why are you interested in woodlovers? I went off the idea the more reports I read about paralysis during trips ...

Why are you all paying out for glass jars? Either buy jam for 89p in B&M or do what I do - 10 plastic food containers for £1.00 in the pound shop. Use a belt hole maker to puncture the lids and just bin the tubs when they're done - no messing with drills, no storage issues, no washing/disinfecting etc - easy.

im no enviromentalist ninja but why bin plastic when your glass jars will last a lifetime, glass is just nicer
