Mushroom tea

I?ve heard that the heat is extremely bad for the active compounds
in magic mushrooms so is it in anyway possible to make
mushroom tea. And if it is, any suggestions about the volume
of dried mushrooms I should use for, let?s say one litre of tea.

It depends on what level you want to achieve. Just use the same dose as you would use when eating them, make a nice cup of tea and pour grinded mushshrooms into the cup. Then wait a few minutes, and drink.

This is the medicinal gourmet forum and YES you can make a tea out of them (medicinal & gourmet). Chinese and Japanese have been doing it for eons. Although I don't know why you would want to do it with the gourmet mushies.

Well some drink alcohol for medicinal reasons, some smoke pot for medicinal reasons I won't knock someone that wants an attitude adjust ment via "active" mushrooms.  I guess one has to define medicinal  :wink:.

In any case best bet with "active" ones - make a strong cup of mint tea and add the dried mushrooms in whatever amount you decide (go to other forum to figure out how much of each type you should use).  Let is set until the tea cools, squeeze out the luquid from the goodies and toss them out.  Drink up.

Interestingly enough quite a few gormet mushrooms are now being used for medicinal purposes.  I notice Stametz's FP now sells capsules of various edibles like Shiitake and hen of the woods.  Personally I'd rather stir fry em than pop em in a pill.
