I have a fully colonized wbs jar that im doing nothing with and wanted to try this out.
Is it as simple as opening the jar and maybe placing a breathable cover on it?
Thanks dooooods

You'll need to case it, and put it into a proper FC.

You will need proper environment so you need FC.
Case the jar on top?

That was mine. Had to take lid off and replace with something more breathable. Casing will help! Although it is not needed.
You'll need to still fan and mist. Bubble wrap laying over the top should allow fae.
And yes, FC isn't needed... If you don't want alot of fruits. Why not make mini bread loaf pans?

Your really going to want a casing layer if your just going off straight grains in a jar. Going to be losing alot of moisture otherwise. Just do a little bit of pasteurized potting soil.
If your against that then mix it up with a little coir/verm and do a tray.

Thanks man. It's not that I want a lot or a small amount of fruits. I'm just looking to fuck around with something I have never tried before with an expendable jar.

The link I posted was about 1/2 cup colonized grain I had after making trays. I let it fluff up again after the soak, shook, added 2 cups dry verm, some water, shook it up, left it alone.

Did you just get one flush from that after what looks like a tricky harvest?

I give you ship in a bottle... er mushrooms in a bottle

That was leftover rice, WBS, rye, barley, and some Verm, when I was doing grain jars, I just filed the jar up a couple inches and was going to fruit it in the jar, originally I was going to take the lid off and put something with more holes for FAE. But during colonization it got all the to one corner and then got contamination and kind of stalled out, I was going to toss it but noticed pins on the bottom so i was going to flip the sub and see what happened, but all I could get it to do at the time is fall on its side so I just fruited it like that. Because of the contamination I left the lid on and every once in a while, like once a day or every two days I opened the lid and fanned it for a couple of seconds but mainly its just been how you see it, it has pretty fuzzy feet. The mycelium and the contam (a white mold?) seem to be at a stale mate, they built up a border and neither crosses it. That is actually the second flush, which might have been better if i re-hydrated it as it looks dry, but with the contam I decided to pretty much just neglect it and let it do its thing.
As far as your situation, I don't know exactly how you want to do it, are you saying you want them to grow up out of the bottle... or truly be invitro and grow around the edges of the jar?

Actually I got 3 before I felt so.bad for massacring it so much.
Most will pop on top first time, but once the sides shrink in a little bit its game on for side pins.
I also didn't pasteurize anything. Just dry verm and tap water.
I believe bodhissta has an all grain invitro grow... I'll try to find it

I'll continue to dig around but I suppose it's pretty straight to the point. After all it is an experiment so I'll probably just shoot from the hip.

So now you can compare an uncased grain jar versus semi/quasi case/bulk grain verm grow.
