surprising jar... (pics)
    #1959366 - 09/28/03 10:24 AM (20 years, 6 months ago)

i had stopped growing mushrooms for over a year now. its a combination of laziness and disappointment with my last attempt. i was sterilizing two jars and the stove, one cracked and the other got full of water (even with tin foil and a low water level). i threw the first one out, but for the second, i said fuck it and i innoculated it. i threw in the back of my closet, but id did nothing and in a couple months i stopped checking. i look at it again yesterday and i see this:

wow!

the brf mix is still visible soaked,  but that has only slowed growth. i think i'll get the record for longest colonization time.

the only problem is i can't birth it because the back still looks like this:

It's still not fully colonized.

whats the best thing to do to this jar? birth it now? wait till it fully colonizes (even though it already has dead shrooms it it)? open it, take out the good shrooms, and then close it up and hope it doesn't contaminate?

also, look at this:

this is the first time i've ever seen mushroom piss in real life.

ps the strain is either b+ ar acadian, i forgot to label.

i would turn it upside down and set it on a towel so maybe some of the excess water would drain out the innoc. holes, if it is as drowned as you make it sound... then colonization might speed up and you can birth normally.

I would birth it. Its not fully colonized IMO because of water buildup. Birth that puppy!
