a cake that JUST WONT FRUIT
    #1958478 - 09/28/03 12:26 AM (13 years, 2 months ago)

I have a BRF cake that looked great during incubation, and when I cold shocked it, which by the Way was for 48 hours!
(I figure the fridge may have been to cold???)

anyway, I then put it in my fruiting chamber and there it has sat

DOING NOTHING, but not going to contams either(and I have given it proper conditions to pin etc etc)

SO whats the deal????

I might put it outside, I dont know yet

A MOnth? Holy crap man. There are so many variables that could cause that, its hard to just answer. How is your humidity? Whats the residing temperature in there? You could put that cake in the freezer for a night and it will still be okay.

Reminds me... I took a bus from Seattle to Chicago one time with a bunch of jars of PF tek cakes fully colonized. I didnt want to ditch em! So I brought them. This was in January. We stopped in Omaha or somewheres in Buttfuck nowhere. I pulled my bag from the bus to get some more CDs. They were FROZEN LIKE ICED!!! Regardless, I birthed them with no probs and got great production. I never thought about my bag being under the bus. I was worried as well, if it would riun the effort.. HAHA

Also, maybe your cake is dried out!

I've had a problem with 12 cakes not fruting after a month and a 1 week in the pod. And I did everything right, and they never contaminated they just never fruited. I guess I got some shitty spores.

U say u cold shocked for 48 hours? From what I understand it's necessary to shock them for only about half that amount of time, 24 hours. Don't know if it would kill it though.
