Help! Spyware won't get off my comp!

Basically, I had to type this post in Notepad because there is a 5 second delay when I try to type something on The Shroomery. Whenever I try to scroll down the page is so choppy, ack I say, ack! I've tried Adaware and SpyBot Search & Destroy but my Internet Explorer is still working really slow. If I completely remove IE from my system and reinstall it again would that work? Do I have to format my hard-drive?

do you have any noticable degradation in performance while doing anything offline, or is it just while online. sounds like 1-your system resources are overwhelmed 2-your harddrive needs to be scanned and defragged 3-you may not have enough available room on your hard drive to create a big enough paging file, "this is where all offline material is stored for future use,IE: so your browser doesn't need to have all info from each server retransmitted each time requested. A combination of this and fragmented files in the paging file could be corrupting info and giving you poor performance.
It's a tough call cause I don't know your setup.. But if I were you before I did a complete format and reinstall. I would clean up any unneccesary programs, files, offline content, cookies, remove and reinstall just your browser, go to http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp and download any updates/service patches. If none of that works backup and then reformat and reinstall...
Also you may be running too many programs upon startup,,, IE: aim, msnmsngrsvc,if your running xp, these can be located in the startup folder, or just hit run and type msconfig goto the startup tab and remove all programs not needed... "alot of progs place themselves into the startup folder by default,, and become a pain", I don't know your skill or understanding so it's hard to cover all of the bases,, and I may have cover some that don't need covering... anyway,, good luck, I hope you are able to resove your browser problems... and in doing so enhance your computing experience..

Did you update Spybot - Search & Destroy before you ran it?
