i think i may have fug dup! need feedback

ok i built some terreriums out of wood. the wood was sealed then black rustoleum was used to paint the box. after that dried a few coats of polyurethane was then applied to water proof the box. here's what my problem is. it seems like there are still fumes from the rustoleum seeping through the polyurethane. there is a distinct gaseous smell which indicates that maybe the cakes inside are breathing this "gas". the cakes have been in the box for a week they look white and healthy some of them look like they are excreting drops of a carmel colored fluid in one or two spots on the cake. if this is infact a problem can it be corrected by moving the cakes into another terrarium without the "gas" fumes. i am aware that when myculium comes into contact with petrol products that it causes deformities and it's looking like there's some abnormal mycelial growth will they fruit or would it be wise to try and move them carefully? any help would be great.

i'd personally get them out of the box, and let the box either sun dry and leak the remaining chemicals out (if its even possible), or use a new terrarium.

you're absolutely right about deformities from petroleum products.

in all likelyhood, they would eventually fruit if kept in the box, but i would be nervous about consuming them if they did in fact get deformed.

all in all though, sounds like you put some work into that terrarium...wish i had the inclination to care about my chambers that much.
not to mention a wood terrarium would look rather spiffy imo, especially if you could make it look liek an old timey treasure chest . =)

look at thread i posted on the grow log forum called "my magic box" or look at my avatar. those are mine. the black box is the gassy box. you have a cool idea about the treasure chest. it could be done. i've made terreriums out of deep freeze refrigerators and even coffins before. truck bed liners too. so you think they'd still fruit eh. i'm gonna move em as soon as the new box is ready.

The caramel drops are excretion from mushroom metabolism. It probably would be a good thing to take them out of the box. Shrooms need fresh air.
