Schizophyllum and Tremella question (pictures added of both)
    #19569857 - 02/15/14 12:55 PM (10 years, 2 months ago)

So my first question is about S.commune I find them often now but I found some this morning that are black. Completely black... I read their are only six species in the Schizophyllum genus and I can't match any of them to this one...could it be black because of the weather? Just had a few inches of snow, twice...which is pretty rare from what I hear.
As for the Tremella.... I read somewhere that the clear Tremella, Silver Ear, (sorry, on my phone and I can't remember the species) has a lot of medicinal value to it...does that go for all the Tremella sp. or just that one? Everything I see just says "the Tremella mushroom" ....

Can you provide photos? Witches butter (the yellow Tremella mesenterica) is also supposedly immune boosting.

Hmmm, I just can't find too much on Tremella yet. I can try to grab some pics real quick. I've started drying them already...without thinking about a picture...whata duck I am!

Your Schizphyllum looks more like Resupinatus applicatus.

I dunno...kinda looks like it has a small stem....or is that just a deformity of the cap?
