Make a tea perhaps... but eat them? eww. i have images of shiny vermiculite turds that are covered in blood because it cut up the gastro-intestinal tract... seriously... that'd be so disgusting... yuck.

amen to that stupaod but anyway..
unless im just making this up, id swear ive read a tek somewhere that went over psilocybe extraction from cakes via...fruit juice.
now before someone goes "...wtf", i might add that ive never done it, never seen someone do it, never heard of anyone doing it this way, and most importantly, dont even know if its legit, or an actual construct of my imagination.
as someone said before in another thread that asked the exact same question, GLITTERSHITS!

Check this page on growing shrooms on rice cakes. At the end it tells how you can eat the cake AFTER it stops producing shrooms.

I have read that as well but I have also read its bs....I really can't say for sure since I haven't tried it....I've read a lot of ppl say that there is no psilocin in the cakes before the first flush.....and even after that its minimal....I've also read some "Trip reports" from ppl who've tried it with no results

This tec tells the extraction process. http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/7998 As for eating verm. I recall it has something toxic in like asbestose or something

One Vermiculite mine was discovered to contain asbestos. Vermiculite from this mine was, also, found to contain asbestos. Since then, vermiculite has been given a bad (ie: toxic) name. I'm not saying go out and eat some verm. Just it shouldn't contain asbestos. Your house, on the other hand, might. Sleep well.

asbestos is harmless when swallowed,it's when you inhale the fibers that causes damage.

and it is possible to grow mycelium on a grain substrate without adding vermiculite; the resulting fully colonized cakes can be brewed into a tea, or can be gently cooked (much like tempeh)... as to psychoactivity, field reports from july gave 4 positive and 1 negative response - (kamut wheat berries were palatable & rye berries were nauseating; cakes were cut into 2 cm thick slices, seasoned with soysauce & spices, & sauted in olive oil for 3 minutes & topped with grilled onions & garlic --- not bad tasting (well, except for the cakes from rye) & one cake was mild & 2 cakes, medium, tripwise... ymmv...

the asbestos fibers must be airbourne (dry) to be inhaled. even if vermiculite contained asbestos the fibers would be tied up in the moist substrate and eating it would not result in inhalation. vermiculite is puffed mica.....asbestos is crocidalite,a totaly different mineral.

Unless the cake is fresh out of the jar, the risk of eating or making tea out of the cake is stupid becuase of contams. Just because your cake looks nice and healthy doesn't mean it's contam free.

Someone on this board posted that they ate a cake, and wanted to know if they're going to die. They were puking up horrendous amounts and couldn't move. Sounds like a smashing good time!
