Following your thread i just did my own experiement with what i learned.

Tub 1# non dunked monotub was inoculated with a 1:1.5 ration by layering grain with H-poo up to 4".

Tub 2# had its grain soaked for 15 min, followed by a 1:1.5 (grain/H-poo) THEN mixing all materials together in bottom of tub

Tub 2# FULLY COLONIZED in just 5 days and is in DESPERATE need of casing this evening!!!!!!
Tub 1#  Has colonized underneath but only 6% of the surface has mycelium showing.

you really know your shit man, your tek cut my time in half!

*i'm pasteurizing your jiffy-peat organic seed starting mix right now.  Cant wait to see how it turns out

Cheers

Meaning only 6ish% of the surface has mycelium poking through it, from the layer underneath. *I put H-poo layer down first, then layer of 100% colonized grain, then another layer of h-poo; repeated until it was 4" deep and the final layer on top was h-poo. as suggested by RR

where as in the second tub i mixed all layers together and is wall-to-wall consolidated mycelium.  Just saying, Franks idea of mixing grains and substrata is colonizing much faster and far more effective than just layering.

I think he was just trying to say that 6% is an odd figure to come up with in your head lol. Most people would estimate 5-10%.

Fatigue's Bacon Log

First things first. If you have not already done so, read Frank's Bacon Tek :bow2: It changed my life forever.

I started with the recommended items:
  • Thick cut bacon
  • Baking dish
  • REAL maple syrup
  • Chipolte pepper powder

I opened the package and just look at that beautiful sight! :awetongue:

I could only fit 5 strips in my dish comfortably, and I think there might have been a little bit of contamination on Slice #1, but I figured the heat would take care of that.

Now to sprinkle a little of that chipolte on it and throw it in the oven!

15 minutes later, I took them out to pour off the grease and pour on this great maple syrup I got from my sister in New York. I used 1/3 cup as Frank mentions and it was the perfect amount.

I let them go for another 10 at 350, then flipped them, and had to go about another 20 before the syrup caramelized to perfection. Here is how that pan looked when I took it out. Gorgeous.

I put them on a plate and spooned up the rest of the caramelized goo onto them next.

I devoured them. 10/10 did cook again. Thank you Frank.
