Can you recommend me some of your favourite tunes?

Greetings,
i dunno i just love music. i cant get enough of it. i literally listen to music everywhere i go. i think i would probably kill myself if i went deaf!
but i'm looking to discover new tunes/artists/labels.
just putting this out here because some of the best music i've found has been recommended/posted by shroomerites, so just looking to tap into the pool of musical knowledge around these parts!
so please recommend some music with good soul and emotion! anything you consider to be top shelf " gems ".
i'm definitely looking for quality over quantity here, so please just post your absolute best stuff!

Do you listen to lyrics or the sound of music? I ask because i think people normally tend to go one way or another and they usually prefer different types of music.

first track sounds pretty fresh! is this shoegaze?
I usually prefer just tracks rather then full albums, but i've definitely taken note of brian jonestown massacre! thanks!
Also, have you heard of a band called " The Gathering "? Norwegian progressive rock band with a female vocalist who has an amazing voice. highly recommended!

I can appreciate all elements of a song. each have their up and downsides. but it's not something i discriminate on.
I think genres like post rock for example are great, because they highlight all the elements of the band, rather then just focusing on the generic singer and guitar. usually each member of the band will have a section of the song where they are the focus, as opposed to standard drumming where its always just lost in the background or never really stands out.
mostly looking for stuff with soul. good quality music. but anything really!

also a fan of trip hop -- but sometimes i think thievary corp can be a bit hit and miss. but thats a great tune there. nice mellow stuff!
Smashing pumpkins are great too. one of my fav tunes of theres is called " ugly " on the " Airplane flies high " album. has this great double melody to it.
it's a bit emo-ish but it's great.

Cheers man. there are some great tuens in there for sure. some big names! wonderwall is a great tune. i recognize most of the songs posted here, ill have a listen to the ones i haven't heard of before though. never heard of jeff buckley before.
also, the glitch mob did a wicked remix of seven nation army (but its electronic):

Yeah i actually stumbled onto the "Ugly" tune randomly while going through their discography. was impressed by it for sure.
Smashing pumpkins are a great band -- they literally have atleast 10-15 top songs. most bands just have a few. but smashing pumpkins have tonnes of them!
heres another random gem i found. i actually found this song by accident while tripping on acid and watching " The Art Of Flight " -- an amazing snowboarding film (highly recomended). again, i checked a few other tracks from the artists and they dont seem to be on the same level, but anyways, great tune!
bit of a strange one but its a gem none the less:

Yeah John frusciante is pretty awesome. he has a pretty unique style. my favourite tune of his is " Central ".
John Frusciante - Central (The Empyrean)
great song! i watched some doco that johnny depp did on his life while he was still alive as they were thinking at the time that it wouldn't be long before he overdosed and died, and they wanted to catch it all on film before he passed. he seems pretty fried

i didn't really like the first two tunes -- its just psytrance i cant get into.
But the protoje tune was wicked. reggae is actually a genre i don't really know anything about and would definitely like to explore. all i really know is irie ites records and damian marley.
would be great if you could point me in the direction of a few other good reggae artists/albums etc??

Central is quite good, but I find the Empyrean is more background music than anything else. The stuff he's making now is awful, but at least he does what he wants and gives zero fucks about money and such.

yeah i think his music can be a bit hit and miss, but his good tunes are great. he has an interesting style as well, kind of a bit of an oddball style with his lyrics and stuff.

Fortunately, he left again. They are seriously depressing now and Anthony Kiedis is a fucking retard. His music is inconsistent because he actually experiments and doesn't remotely play it safe, like a lot of really good ones, including that wanker in my avatar.
This is a really good album anyway, but Vini Reilly is also probably the biggest single influence on John Frusciante, even over Hendrix.
FOLK!

FKA Twigs - Papi Pacify
Synkro - Acceptance
FIDLAR - Cheap Beer
Shigeto - Detroit Part 1

Omnia- Fee Ra Huri, I don't speak human, Morrigan. Faun- Karuna, Satyos, September.
Those two are really amazing psychedelic folk bands.
Greensky Bluegrass- Don't Lie, Demons, Handguns.
I just got into listening to bluegrass and that's my favorite BG band.
Kevin Burke

I just added some Beatsteaks to my playlist again.
I used to listen to them all the time years back but stopped. I still love their tunes.

Old Crow Medicine Show is great, check out Willie Watson he recently went solo and he's a fucking god of folk. So much soul in that man he's a true brother of the greats, def worth a YouTube search.
AA Bondy is a folk singer who is "modern" and in an interview once revealed he is acquainted with mushrooms, of course
Gillian Welch... As you can tell I'm more of a folk.
And blues, Ben Caplan check out
If you're into darker heavy stuff, David Eugene Edwards in 16 Horsepower or Wovenhand.
For some awesome, positive and uplifting music check out Trevor Hall, can't be beat, one of my faves.

Atoms For Peace - Judge Jury and Executioner
FKA Twigs - Papi Pacify
Synkro - Acceptance
FIDLAR - Cheap Beer
Shigeto - Detroit Part 1

Hey nic epost man. i like how you put alot of different stuff in here.
A fwe familiar names, but some of the standout tracks were the FKA twigs tune, and the john hopkins tune.
not too much of a fan of the metal tunes at the end. i dont mind metal but i like it to be progressive and melodic such as this:
Agalloch - Limbs
-------------------- R.I.P. WoodRuss67, Todcasil, TheMerryIguana, The Rompus, Lord Senate. [/url]
